I'm planning 3 nights in LA later this month, and would love some input on where to book!
4 & 5 star hotels. I prefer clean and chic over too vegas glamour, but I do love great design, so nothing too outdated. Pool & bath tub are high priorities.
I'm flexible on how much to spend if it's really worth it.

I have my eye on a few places in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, but would love any hot tips

. . . you're targeting traveling businessmen, but if you are looking for locals to be regulars for the future when you tour to LA, you will do better downtown or in WLA.  The traffic is horrendous around LAX except later in the evening and most locals will find something in an area that's not going to be such a time-suck to get to.  Just my opinion from 7 years of hobbying in SoCal.

Hotels in the LAX area are also good for south bay locals, not just business folks. And traffic around Sepulveda/Century Blvd's. isn't all that bad. The south bay in general is a nice place to set up shop - Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Hermosa Beach. All are nice areas with good hotels available and without the thundering crowds and ridiculous parking issues.

...where to look, but parking Downtown sucks.  And BH to LAX takes 15 minutes after 8:00 pm.

I`m on the Westside and have found the traffic both east on the 10 and downtown streets mid-afternoon,early evening to have gotten even worse in recent years. Only good for people who live in the area. I think you will have more choice in the LAX area. SM is nice, but can be pricey.
