I once had a friend that discovered a great surf spot in the South Pacific. He started a surf camp that evolved into an exclusive island retreat. I was obsessed with the waves there so we spent a lot of time together surfing and hanging and drinking. It seems like all he would do was grouse about how many people wanted to stay there since the magazine did an article on the place and how hard that excessive demand was to manage. I told him to raise his prices until he felt the pressure lift a bit. My reasoning was even if it wasn't fully booked at a higher entry fee, it would be easier to manage, would make more money and the quality for all the guests would be better with less crowds. Six months later, their prices were 2.5x what they were, they were still fully booked and he was on his way to becoming very rich, very quickly... Theoretically, prices rose for me too but I knew that the model had much more longevity in it with the supply & demand gap tightened up
