The advantage of the Costa Mesa area near JWA for providers visiting OC is that you will attract not only the local hobbyists, but also visiting businessmen.  The same cannot be said for setting up near LAX, as that is a long way from the major business centers in LA.  Many local LA hobbyists will not make the drive to LAX to see a visiting provider.

Happy Friday!! Looking for some feedback from this LA board... trying to re-word this so it's "not appearing as an ad" per moderators of my prior attempted post...

I will be flying into Orange County/John Wayne airport (SNA)....Is Newport Beach a good place to stay as a provider?  Or is it more of a family/resort destination?  Is there an area/town that would be a better choice to stay near that airport ?

I appreciate your assistance...  And please feel free to PM as well...

Thanks!!

John Wayne Airport is near the intersection of the 405 and 55 freeways.  There are many good chain hotels (Hilton, Crown Plaza, etc.) in the area and its easy to get to from any direction.  There is no freeway that goes all the way to the Newport Beach harbor, so you may be placing yourself  further from potential customers if you stay near the ocean in Newport.  I think I ma typical in that part of my decision on who to see will be calculating the drive to get there.  Costa Mesa is centrally located.  Anaheim is a good choice if you are wanting to also attract customers from LA.  Many hobbyists will make the drive to Anaheim, but not all the way to Costa Mesa.

Very helpful... thank you!!  I just noticed now a discussion board for Orange County... wondering if I should have posted there and if SNA airport is considered more Orange County than LA ?  Since it is called Orange County airport!?!  LoL

Thanks!!

and make sure you screen like crazy. Some parts of OC are incredibly hot. Definitely stay away from "motel row" type places - and some of the higher end hotels particularly by JWA require keycards for the elevators, so that's a good thing to find out ahead of time.
I'm reluctant to post hotel recommendations on the open boards but you're more than welcome to send me a PM and I'll be happy to pass along what I found out on my research for my own trip to OC next week. :)

Thanks, and of course I would never ask for hotel info via the forum!  Just the area in general... Good info, thanks for sharing it!!
