Can't call illegal contact or defensive holding for that play

In order to do that the ball would have to be in Brady's hand and he would still have to be in the pocket.  I think the no call for pass interference was a bad call, as it was blatant that Gronk was being held and pushed back. If anyone could have made that play on the Pats offense it would have been Gronk.  Being a Pats fan the call was heartbreaking,  This is the second game this season that was decided by the officials.  All and all with all the Pats issues it is a miracle that they are leading the AFC East.  I'm taking the pats and BYU this weekend.  You can call me a PatsY but they have been good for me so far.

I agree at a minimum illegal contact or defensive holding had to be called.  That call is made no matter where the offense was committed, no matter where the ball was thrown, or even if the quarterback is sacked.  But, I have also seen numerous pass interference calls made because the defensive player contacted the receiver without playing the ball - even if the pass was underthrown.  That all being said the Patriots could have won the game had they made any one of perhaps five key plays throughout the game.

Is when I get ticked off. As a former receiver, if I'm "held" from getting to my assigned route, its a penalty!

The othe call: how is one suppossed to sack the QB if breathing on him is disllowed. The sack of Brees was a good, and clean, sack

Your thoughts if any? Lol

"the pass was uncatchable." It was uncatchable because Gronkowski was being held and couldn't get to the ball!

I think they made the right call in picking up the flag The pass seemed woefully short and easily intercepted near the goal line. You have to ask yourself if Gronk was not being held at all could he have in enough time come back to the ball and make a play on it. I think based on where the ball was intercepted, I don't believe he would have. But I am making the same judgment call as the refs.

We all hate games decided on border line penalties. If its an obvious call, you have to throw the flag. This one was close enough to debate. A non-call was prob. correct.

would be 'why wouldn't illegal contact more than 5 yerds down field be called?'  The Panther defensive back had a better hold on Gronkowski than I did on my last date-lol   I'd agree with Sheets that in spite of the contact, Gronk couldn't have made the play as the Carolina interceptor made a great break on the ball and IMHO, had no chance for the reception-1rob...BTW, Coach K far out recruited 'Porky' Calipari this year..heh heh.....out

yeah, funny how those 'one and doners' don't fit Duke's system, but Coach K sure loves getting them now

Calipari had with the Davis crew and being the innovative genius he is, decided to emulate it-Hey, I actually pull for the Wildcats if they're not playing Duke-I even pull for the arch enemy TAR Holes if they're playing outside the ACC- but will admit to great 'schadenfreude' when the Heels lost to a college apparently named after Dion's backup group-
Calipari's a great coach but right now I'd say one of America's most dangerous places to be would be between Coach Cal and a dinner roll- the boy's let himself go lately-smile   looks like he's studying to be a body double for Rob Ford-  8-)  good luck to you and the Wildcats this year   1rob...out

You see how KY'ites are good at "trapping" lol.
KY stole 3 out of the top ten "in coming" freshmen. Ole K probably got the smartest though because everyone knows that KY is a breeding ground for NCAA "users", to get to the NBA quicker. With hindsight, I don't blame them. I would probably do the same.........minus the frivolous spending assoc with many youngsters. I would damn sight bank every penny and go back to school after I was finished though

Wow, even I got confused trying to type a coherent sentence this early. Like that younger fellow, down below, said........no wonder I drink AGAIN lol

Not to long ago I bet against Carolina and I got fucked 38-0... Although your pain may hurt more as you were fucked by a bad call.

can now judge the talent level of a player too. A player who catches almost anything thrown in his general direction .

to pick up the flag in Monday Night's game. Those fucktard refs should all be banned from calling another game. When shit like that happens I'm more convinced than ever that many of the Pro Football games are fixed. And no, I did not bet on either team and am not a fan of either as well. Just hate seeing the game go to shit.

Yeah, that bothers me more than any other fact. How the hell does a ref know what route was called. Most of MY routes included ME coming back to the ball as I recall. Of course I'm so old maybe the "ball", back then, couldn't travel as far made from rock ya know lol

If the flag was picked up because the ball was not catchable, then why don't they pick up the flag when holding is called on an O lineman when the QB rolls totally to the opposite side of the field and the D lineman could no way get to him.

Just saw this video of the play and it now even more apparent how bad the non call was.  Gronkowski clearly is trying to stop moving upfield when he is 3-4 yards into the endzone but gets pushed back toward the end line.
