.... and is alive 24/7. It really depends on what you want around you on the areas. All the super swanky really expensive building are up by LA Live. The old bank district has a lot of great restaurants, cafe's and wine bars. well pretty much all of downtown does. There are many great eats that are open 24/7, A Ralph's, Target, and Smart and Final. Broadway and 4th used to have a great farmers market, but the gentrification has run out all the good places and cheap produce. Now we have the arts district which is great with a few good cafe's. there is a good Japanese supermarket on central and 2nd. Skid Row isn't as scary as some people would like to believe but it is right in the middle on san pedro from 5th to 7th st.

There are also a lot of parks that have doggie areas, but Dt in general is very dog friendly, there is even a cafe you can take your dogs into.

Hey everyone I am wanting to move downtown. I love the idea of having a loft with city views and valet service hahaha. But being from up in Porter Ranch I have not explored the area enough to know the best places to live. If anyone has any info/advice that would be great and I would love to know what you think. Also if anyone knows the safest areas at night as I have a very sweet Golden Retriever that is not much of guard dog who would need to go potty before bed lol. I am anxiously awaiting your responses as I am excited to start my loft search!

Find something you love first....

A little known fact is that a lot of the properties dtla were developed to court dog owners...why?

Downtown Dog owners walking their dogs make the area is safer because there are more people in circulation....

Shouldn't be a problem....:)

As for "views", I know a lot of the east properties have been selling (toward marachi square/boyle heights) because you get "the view" that you see in movies like "fast in the furious"

Chinatown has some great views too but that area is already more of a premium...
