Even though you are right, don't expect me to give up my "ill gotten gains"

That's two miracles I won by this week, the other was in the Thursday night NIU game. 14 meaningless points, including a pick 6 to not only cover the spread, but cover the O/U as well, when all they had to do was kneel the ball when they were up 34/27 with a minute and change to go, deep in Ball St territory.

Some weeks the gambling gods smile on you, other weeks they spit on you. The mistake that many amateur gamblers make, is thinking it's skill when they win. I would rather be lucky than good any day.

Did anyone else see the end to the Ball St N Illinois game. NIU was running out the clock, expected to simply take a knee comfortably ahead 34-27 with only a minute or so left in the game with the spread at 8 1/2and the over under at 73, I figure my bet is completely dead considering I not only had NIU minus  the 8 1/2, but I also had it parlayed with the over 73, I have to figure my bet is as dead as a bet can be.

NIU not only runs the ball in for a touchdown instead of taking a knee, which only covered the spread, but still left me five points short of the over, they turn around and get a pick 6 against Ball St on the next possession and win the parlay for me. I wish I could claim my skill at handicapping for the win, but like I told CorC earlier today, you just can't factor in luck, Weird shit happens in football, sometimes it happens to you, other times it happens for you. The next time I get fucked on a last second bogus pass interference call, or 65 yard field goal, I will try to remember tonight when blind shit house luck saved my ass.

Anyone who thinks that you can be successful at betting sports without a huge dose of luck, just hasn't been doing it long enough to know how much luck is involved with beating the spread.

I either lose by blowout or get the short end if the stick.

Your game last night sorta reminded me of Tiger at the Masters he hits the ball at the flag instead of stopping it hits the flag and rolls into the water costing him a two shot penalty lol.. yeah I would say some luck is definitely involved sports betting

I have been fucked by obscure rules, bad calls, weird bounces and every other possible set of events that you can imagine over the years. I have also been the recipient of those same bounces. It does even out over the years if you are objective and don't just dwell on the negative. You have to be philosophical about gambling if you don't want to develop ulcers over it and accept it for the marathon it is, and don't take it personally when it seems like the stars are aligned against you.

Luck is fickle, when you're hot it seems you can do no wrong, and when you are cold, nothing goes your way. It's just one of those facts of life for a gambler. Even poker which is largely a game a skill requires at least some luck for even the best players to survive, no one is immune to bad beats, and every player who plays long enough will have a streak of bad beat after bad beat where even inferior players will take them to the wood shed day after day. Shit happens

KINGS down 2-0 score 3 in the third and win the game lol.

I hope we both have a good day on Sunday

...in the Outback Bowl.  S. Car. (4 1/2 pt. fave) was down 28-27 late in the game and the first string QB was out.  They were running the ball down the field and got to the 32 with 16 seconds left.  Everyone thought they were going to try a field goal but the backup QB threw a TD pass so S. Car. won by 5.

I never saw such pandemonium at a sports book, mostly by me since I had the Gamecocks.

but Spurrier coached teams are famous for running plays that cover the spread, even when the game is well in hand. He did it at UF and he still does it at SC. As a gambler I love it, but opposing fans hate him for it. I doubt there is a more hated coach in the SEC, not even Saban is hated as much as Spurrier.

I have been called a traitor by a few, but I root with my wallet, and I had Auburn yesterday. I felt "almost" guilty to win that way, the key word of course being "almost" lol

I have said this repeatedly, and I will say it again. there is no substitute for dumb, shithouse luck.

i had Georgia..was i pissed..what a bonehead play by TWO Georgia backs..i wuz robbed..

You guys that bet the spreads are daredevils, too risk for me

we might be daredevils..but if you hit just one parlay big..you are hooked..i love the over/under in hockey..much easier to win..

Hockey, hooking up the puck line with the O/U gives you one of the best values in all of sports betting. A side/total two game parlay can pay as much as 7-1 if you can catch a puck line +275 or better hooked up with the over in the same game. Not all bookies will take this action, and truth be told, I don't blame them. The value to those bets is huge.

i have one..play the over/under on hockey all the time..have hit several parlays already..rarely do the top scoring teams { Washington i.e. go under}.rarely do the low scoring teams { Buffalo i.e. go over}..pretty easy pickings..depends on the matchup..

You can get well over 5-1 on a two team parlay, not bad for a bet that should cover at least one out of three times.

Note to CorC, this is what I am talking about when I refer to "value". A bet that should come in about 1 out of every 3 times, yet pays 5-1 is a GREAT value IMO. Giving -240 is horrible value and a great way to end up in the poor house.
