I take 50mg as advised.I was just curious about the empty stomach part.I don't drink at all or use nitrates.
I have an RX for viagra,which I take in a 50 mg dose.Is it better to take on an empty stomach,or maybe after a light meal ?

I'm not a physician, so you'll only get a textbook answer from me. The most important thing, however, is to take Viagra exactly according to your personal doctor's orders.
Viagra is taken one hour before anticipated sexual activity and on an empty stomach. Eating a high fat meal just prior to taking Viagra can greatly decrease its effectiveness. The most important contraindication (and really the only major one) for Viagra is when a patient is also taking nitroglycerin. Taking nitrates in conjunction with Viagra greatly enhances the hypotensive or low blood pressure effect and can cause death. Alcohol can also increase the activity of sildenafil. Therefore, you should not drink excessively when taking Viagra.

The stuff is great, and (for me at last) it's still there the next morning, just a little (!) bonus. Save yourself some money, buy 100mg pills and split them.

The Doc did give me the 100mg dosage because of the cost.He did tell me to cut them in half.I haven't had quite the success I wanted,but some improvement.That's why I asked about the empty stomach thing.Do you take yours that way ?
Empty stomach seems to get the desired results quicker. High fat content meal prior to taking a pill can almost nullify the desired effects.
Viagra (for me at least) does seem to work a bit better on an empty stomach. But also works after dinner and a bottle of wine. While it undoubtedly works physiologically, I prefer to think of it as [performance] insurance. So much depends on the lady involved, on the mood, etc etc etc ...
definitely it works best on an empty stomach. It never fails me. I also use Cialis instead sometimes. It lasts for more than 24 hours!
