WTF is right! WTF is with your upsell?!

Your website clearly states 350 incall and 400 outcall. It is assumed yhe higher rate for outcall is to cover travel expenses. Where does the extea 50 come from? That's an upsell.  

Now I have seen provider websites where it says "outcall within an x mile radius" or "rate = xx plus travel expenses." Your site has no such wording. To spring an additional 50 buck charge on someone after the appointment is set is straight upsell. I would cancel too.

The  advertised  outcall rate should include everything . Unless that there is a disclaimer stating beyond certain radius there are extra fees. These things should be clear and transparent from the start . Once hidden charges start appearing it's better to cancel than feel taken advantage off . Perception is a powerful thing.  

There's an additional charge for an outfall an you'll be fine.

If it says $400 for outcall on your profile then he probably was irked that you asked for more.

When i tour LA i always have it stated that cab fare may imply if long distance.  This way it's in black and white and no harm done.

Bear in mind that i still haven't plucked the courage up to hire a car over there and i have to cab it everywhere.

I had a couple of journey's that were $80 plus each way (not including tip), so it saved my arse having the extra donation on my site for longer journey's.

In all fairness i think $50 extra for outcall is fine when it's a short cab ride, but if you have to travel 45 minutes to an hour at a cost of $80 to $100 one way in a cab it would be best to add it on your profile saying for longer journey's etcetera.

What would you have said if the hobbyist asked for travel expenses and wanted to cut $50 off your fee and to pay you $300?  

Like PS said, it amounts to an upsell and the hobbyist was right to cancel. I would have done the same thing. You already have an additional $50 for travel expenses cited on your website. Keep to your word.  

Hopefully you learned your lesson.

If you're traveling father than normal for an outcall, driving an extra 50 miles, for example, adding the $50 is reasonable as long as its stated in your ad, and not a surprise.

Why disclose his name and where he's from??

You could have just explained the situation without saying "William from SF"
As if his name being Bob from New York would have changed anything?!

Please be discreet with client information.
Now THAT is a "WTF and WTF" on your part because he didn't do anything wrong.
BTW, I agree with what others have already said.

I always let someone know before an appointment is scheduled that within a certain mile radius I charge extra but my outcall rates are already higher being that I add that on before hand

I was in this situation one time.  I wanted incall and this lady at the last minute could not provide her apartment, so I offered to get a room.  Because I was getting the room closer to me, she now needed a car service and wanted a 2 hour date to cover her costs.   I did not book just because of the increase but the plain confusion just killed the mood for me, so I can relate to this guy.  

My suggestion to you is to change your rates.  Make your minimum outcall date at 500 for 90 minutes.   You get more money for logistics and the guy gets an unrushed and hopefully great time.

I think the bigger issue is the posting of his name and city. That should remain private since he has caused you no harm.
