How nice of you to say.
You are absolutely correct and thank you for the patriotic American you truly are.
Some of us are the lucky ones.  Others not.
Saw a bumper sticker that read:

"If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you can read it in English, thank a soldier."
                 Watch:
"ALL GAVE SOME", by Billy Ray Cyrus.
See the video, "The Saluting Marine"
Brings me to tears
"All gave some, some gave all, some, Some gave all,
Some stood through for  the Red, White, and Blue,
Some had to fall.
If you ever think of me, think of all your liberty,
And recall, some gave all." Semper Fi

Happy Belated Marine Corps. birthday to all you bad ass Marines out there. OORAH!!!

Today is Veterans Day and I would like to thank all veterans for your service.  I would not have the freedom to post on a board like this and so many other things that I take for granted if it were not for you.

I would ask that we all do something to remember today – Buy the service man or woman in line that cup of coffee or lunch, light a candle or give to a charitable veterans cause.

The Soldier Pays

What do they mean it's the results that could not be foreseen?
It's about the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands and wives
that laid their lives on the line for the peace we enjoy at this time
Liberty is not free and for it the soldier must pay.
There were those who came home and those who did not
and on this day we will let them know they will never be forgot.
Even this day around the world, we are here and there
but that is our way of life, to help everywhere.
Remember each morning when the sun comes up,
it was made possible by what each gave up.
Let us not take for granted what we have today,
it was given to us by those they took away.
Let us put into perspective the meaning of Memorial and Veterans Days
and thank from the bottom of our hearts all those who showed the way.
This thank you is from me and those who cannot,
and let them know, they will never be forgot!

Those fine men and women who served during WW II.
Memories fade, and History gets re-written, but these wonderful members of the "Greatist Generation" are dying at a rate of over 1000 per day.  Soon they will all be gone.
My father AND 4 of my uncles served in that war.    Said to be the only "Good War" the U.S. entered.  One was killed.

The numbers may bring this into perspective:
U.S. MIlitary Deaths by War:
War on Terror:   2001- present:   5,2881
Korea:         36,516
Vietnam:      58,209
WW II:       405,400

Thank your for caring.

Let us understand, we can't turn back the clock and right the wrongs of the past.
But we can have an effect on the future.
If we don't remember the tragic events of World War II and other wars,  and how  horrible  wars can be....
Then we have learned nothing from history.
Let us never forget history and the horrors of war.  History can and Should, keeps us from making the
same mistakes over and over.
I hope we Learn .............

And special hug to special friend ....... Airmobile     hope you be good today.....
the warmest HUG

Your words are truly from the Heart.

"I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its stupidity."
General Dwight Eisenhower

"War is brutal, barbaric, cruel and messy.  It should be avoided whenever possible and implemented, only as a last resort."
Airmobile:   227 AHB

True, war is the absolute last resort.  Also, the one who hates war the most, is the one who has to fight it.

"To win 1000 times in 1000 battles is not the highest form of war.
The highest art, is to defeat your enemy without a fight."
(quote is not exact)
"The Art of War."-  Sun Tzu
The founder of Japanese Shotokan Karate-do, Master Funikoshi,(sp) wrote in his book that one time he had to use his skills when attacked by 5 thugs.  He destroyed them all. When he returned home he was in anguish.   He said he was a failure.  Why? Because, he placed himself in a situation that he could not extricate himself without using his skills of self defense.
It is a shame that there are people who want war.  This is true today and throughout history.
So, long as this is true, our brave men and women will step up, at the peril of their lives, and defend you and I. Peace is through strength. May GOD bless all past, present and future military men and women of the USA.
