You may be right, we'll see, but I'd rather face the spread than Johnny 2 times. -e-

I don't think any big 10 team will be punching them in the mouth. osu or mich can beat em, but not by being physical. both are spread teams, like oregon

no college team that i know of has beat the spread every week..this Oregon team seems to do it with ease..i cannot see anyone even coming close to beating them until they meet Alabama in the BCS title game..any doubters?

but, I doubt them. it seems to me we have this discussion every year, and every year they let us down.

Those look to be the hurdles. Stanford is very good and UCLA whooped up on Nebraska (but they could just be terrible). I think they could go undefeated, but will get run by any good punch you in the mouth Big 10 or bigger and faster SEC school.

I can't wait for the national championships this year, it is definitely going to be OREGON and someone, but this time Oregon is going to take it all!!!!!!! Im a true believer.

and for what it's worth even though I am a major SEC fan, I like the Ducks and think they are one of the best in the country, and I won't surprise me in the least if they end up playing the tide come January, and if the Tide doesn't shore up their defense, the Ducks could actually win in a shoot out if it comes to that.

the ducks run up the score and everybody thinks they're the team to beat . But what you forget is every year they get in a bowl game v big 10 or an SEC and win/lose by a TD. Look at the San Diego v Philly score today .

Bring that 17 out west and I'll show you how to hit a duck on the Wing with it . It may come in handy someday

and they beat their last big ten opponent, Wisconsin in the 2012 Rose Bowl. Now they are 0-1 against the SEC in bowl games, but one meeting hardly constitutes a trend.

Sorry, but the facts just don't back up your statement, even though the SEC is by far the best conference in the country.

Alabama certainly deserves their number one ranking, but after giving up 42 points to A&M, their defense is definitely suspect. Add to that the fact that Ala has an incredibly easy schedule for an SEC team this year, and shouldn't even be seriously tested again until they play LSU in a few weeks, beating the Ducks (assuming the Ducks get through unscathed) is not as automatic as you might want to think.

problems with going off those 6 bowl games and the a&m game.

1. they did as you say lose to that sec team.
2. they only scored 16 points
3. cam newton, great as he may be, did not play for a loaded team like bama
4. the 2nd best player on that auburn offense was a true freshman rb that has been kicked out of 2 schools and is still in college
5. the best defensive player auburn had is now the 4th best d-lineman on the DETROIT LIONS
6. DeAnthony Thomas, great as he may be, cannot run the ball up the middle
7. you will not "out speed" an sec defense
8. tj yeldon is a top 5 ncaa rb
9. amari cooper is a top 10 ncaa wr
10. this is the best bama offense in years, better than when they had trent Richardson, Julio jones and mark ingram
11. johnny manziel is the best player in college football
12. he does not play for the Oregon ducks
13. I give nick saban the advantage over whoever is trying to run chip Kelly's offense

that said, I still hope to see this game

I want to see how a better SEC defense does loading the box against them a la Va Tech.

DDD made a statement that the Ducks lose in every bowl game to an SEC or Big Ten team. I simply corrected him on that.

I will stipulate to most of what you have said, except I stand by my statement that if Bama doesn't improve their defense they could find themselves in a shootout with Oregon that they might not win, assuming of course that Oregon even gets there. This year is an anomaly, Oregon actually has a much tougher schedule than does Alabama, the normally uber tough schedule that all SEC teams have each year is rather tame this year for Bama, only LSU looks like a game that they have any chance of losing, with Ole Miss being the only other SEC matchup they have that shouldn't be an absolute cakewalk.

Without having their usual trial by combat that all SEC normally have, they may not get tested again for some time, and they may not shore up their defense due to lack of need to, that it until bowl time. I am not saying that I am betting on anyone else but Bama to win it all, but that there might be a weakness for someone like the Ducks to exploit, but there are a hundred "ifs" first.

you pointed out oregons bowl wins. I pointed out why they don't matter at all when talking about Alabama. you pointed out the way a&m exposed bama on d. I pinted out that Oregon has nobody the caliber of manziel.

im just a believer that Oregon cant pass well, and that is the weakness of the bama d. mariota is no manziel, and he wont torment them the way johnny did. Thomas isn't physical enough to run on them up the middle, and nowhere near fast enough to get the corner on a regular basis.

I score it similar to bama-nd from last year.

All I did was correct him.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of your points, but you made them as if you were "taking me to school" and that simply is not the case.

As for an Ore/Ala match up, only fools handicap games that may or not even happen. I'll save my predictions when we get closer to game time. FWIW I won five digits on last years Bama-ND game, so I definitely am not going to overlook Bama, but to put the blinders on so early in the year is never wise for someone who is risking ten of thousands on a weekly basis. IMO it's also why people who participate in fantasy football never seem to be able to beat the spread and actually make a profit at the end of the year.

They did beat Wisconsin in a shootout. But they lost to OSU and Auburn.

So, they have one out of 3 against non-spread option teams.

everybody out all year.

Big thumbs, little phone and normally my rants come the same time I'm hitting the brown liquor hah

and makes total sense, and that goes not only for the non blow out win/losses, but typing on a damn smart phone and of course PUI as well. lol
