Little Izaka several locations incl Sepulveda in Sherm Oaks
Takeo in Brentwood, $100 a head but 5+ non Japan wild choices
( Fukushima-talk about protection! )
Koy La Cienega, light on wild choices but def aphrodisiac atmosphere
SHU Beverly Glen for locals and celebs top of the Glen
Matsuhisa, not as great as old days still solid pick
Bon Apetit

Slightly off-topic, I guess, but I'm looking for some new places to try outside my favorite sushi haunts.

All suggestions/recommendations are much appreciated!

Do a search this has been discussed before. Urasawa ( be ready to spend 375/ person), sushi zo, sugar fish.

DATY is cheaper than that. Try Yoco, she's Japanese.

Katsuya is amazing,as is Teru.

In mid wilshire, my little brain sees layers of irony in that places name.  Sushi there is average, but the appetizers to be had nearby make up for it

I've eaten there several times when I came too early for my appointment.  ;)

A quote from Michael Douglas character "Nick" from the movie "Black Rain"   " Does it cost more if its cooked?"

Thanks to all for the recommendation! Been to a couple of these, but now have a lot more to try
