Average independent in DC is around $500 and those in the $1000 plus range are not uncommon. So, there is obviously money in this town if you know how to tap into it.
My guess is one or two porn stars have come to the DMV and found a group of buyers willing to pay the fee for that particular specialty product and the word is out.

Also wealth in the DC area is totally different than Silicon Valley. With Trump's latest announcement about increased defense spending you see folks accumulate even more zeroes in their investment portfolios.
