Re: You're pretty safe from HIV

Herpes is the big question for most bbbj and daty. Gonorrhea and chlamydia and genital warts are also possible but less likely in an asymptomatic person. Herpes can be transmitted even with a condom, although much more rare. I agree HIV is low so long as woman is not on her period, and no one has any open sores. That includes gum disease (do you bleed when you floss?).

I am very careful because the herpes would destroy my SO relationship. If not for that, I would readily accept the risk of bbbj and daty with selected providers. But remember, it is a risk.

Read the info in the links above. Good luck. Have fun.

If I saw a providor who screened selectively, am I safe from STD's from bbbj's and daty?

There are some others you would be susceptible to contracting.

As far as HIV goes, statistically you have a better chance of winning the lotto.  Although you're odds increase if you DATY right after oral surgery, etc...

Viruses...of all sorts...are transmitted via blood, semen, secretions from mucosa(oral and viaginal), saliva...even tears.
You are gambling ANYTIME you are in contact with the above-mentioned fluids.  "Oh, she DFK's so tenderly..."  Yeah, well, there may be no current outbreak, but if he/she's a carrier, you are at risk.
Wanna be relatively safe?  No kissing on the mouth, no DATY, BBBJ, and no kissing of any part of the body where the skin does not look completely intact.  Wear a condom...maybe two for some of these providers.  Don't go along with the mistaken notion that something pretty CAN'T have a disease...only the crusty, street-walking 'momma-babes' are infected.  BS

For more accurate info- go the the TER Instruction manual at the top of the FAQ for Newbies page, then to the two links STD1 and STD2.  Also, Craigs List despite all it's shortcomings for finding providers has a very nice link to the San Francisco STD Clinic that has a chart that discussed risks for different activities.

From those two sources, draw you own conlusions.  There is risk to oral, but significantly less than vaginal or anal penetration.  You have to decide after reading the info what you are comfortable with.

All the opinions by members here are just that and should be taken with a grain of salt.  However, if you do a search of the forum for STD, you see that some hobbiests have had a lot of oral experiences disease free.

Good luck on deciding- I've gone through the same wondering and didn't get much help from reading the posts other than the two info sources above being pointed out to me.

Maybe I should just stay home & jerk off.  Wait, if I don't lube up and rub it raw, might I give myself a disease?

Geez buddy, you're a buzz kill.  I mean, yeah it's safer that way, but why do I wanna live to 90 if I can't have any fun?

Hey Little Phil...
Go ask someone with a terminal illness whether he/she would choose to die now or live 'til '90 w/o an orgasm.  Wanna cum everyday and die at 30 rather than see that there's more to life than gettin' your nut?  Are you nuts?

She can't screen out clients who may have an STD.  Screening is about keeping herself safe from LEO and wierdos.

What she CAN do is to look for outward signs of infection as things progress, and tailor what she will or won't do depending on what she sees.  She can have herself tested regularly.  She can engage only in (relatively) safe activities.

A good provider will do all of these things and more, but it doesn't have much to do with screening.
