Because of my age and because I have been in this area my entire life. I have a wide range of taste in music. For me I add it as part of mine setting the moode and creating an abiance atmosphere for my sessions. Usually I play jazz because my cliental is usually 55 or older.

Now i have indeed seen a client, a couple times, who did want to get busy with rap music in the background. Just club bangers. I didn't mind complying. It's different but I can get down to just about anything to be honest.
I've always been a fan of music during a session, especially if it's soft and sets the mood. It's nice because, let's face it, your typically session is just going to sound funny on it's own. There's always a bed making noises or someone's body making some kind of unflattering squish noise. It's best to find something to distract yourself from that. The worst way to do this is with some upbeat techno music, because then you feel obliged to thrust in time with the beat.
Any music as long as it is on the softer side can work. I definitely have preferences for some music over others, but I can certainly deal with anything soft, and it does add to the mood.
Anything is better than having the TV on as background noise. That completely distracts from the mood. Investing a few dollars in a blue tooth speaker and Spotify (my choice over Pandora) premium could go a long way to making someone feel like you are putting in an extra effort. We men are simple creatures, but we do love to have our egos stroked, so if we think you sent through some extra effort for us, the goes a long way.

it tends to be the same as that's the adult game that most people play as they feel less guilty and because of social acceptability. A strip club is a party with loud music even at 11am, lol.
My personal preference is something slow or mellow to set the tone but as Sydney said the breathing and moaning can do a lot for the experience.....if its genuine.
And yes I have been to many strip clubs...lol. But I view this as something different and more intimate but understand the correlation. I just don't know that I could do that even to "club banggas" lol

I am very eclectic...I prefer to play something you enjoy. Jazz, R&B, urban but not too rough, sexy mixes, electronic-ambient or something dance. Other than that of course I enjoy country and rock...the words need to be oriented to the session or none at all.
I like it because it enhances the epxerience...there are those who like a quiet one where the focus is on the natural sounds of being together. Both ways are awesome, but the music (TV for some believe it or not)are also distraction sound for the hallways and the walls.

I just visited a touring girl down from NY and the background music was definitely rappish -- not hardcore but seemed more like a rap theme than anything else (does it show I'm not really up on my rap variations/genera? 
I would not rate it as the top of the list but not overly distracting for me -- I try to go with the flow and if that's keeping the girl happy, so she then wants to keep me happy, I'm all for it. It was a bit odd to periodically here the N-word tossed out here and there in the background though. (Did I just out myself as white with that?!)
