It will be my first time in that area. Tysons Corner and other parts of NOVA is usually my go to so I have no idea when it comes to Crystal City.
I would love get a few restaurant recommendations in the area. After looking on google and yelp It seems like Neramitra Thai Cuisine is a well recommended place however I definitely wanted to check here first.

Legal Seafood is good too. It has nothing to do with Leo! 
Crystal City Restaurant is a strip bar, and actually the food is quite good.
23rd Street are a bunch of restaurants, Thai is good as you noted. A bunch on Crystal Drive as also noted. Mccormick and Schmick has really gone downhill, don't go there. I recommend Paleo, too.
