Thanks for providing all the info! I'll follow up with my physician to see what we can do.

I'm a bit surprised to see I only got one response to this post. I thought more providers would pitch in and talk about the elephant in he room, but it doesn't seem like it.

During my last visit with a provider, I'm positive that I've contracted Herpes from her during DATY. She's obviously going to remain anonymous but, I was wondering, how common is this? In most of the reviews, people say the ladies are clean down there.

Will the provider wearing a female condom prevent this from happening? I must admit that I've never even seen a female condom, so I'm just looking for more info around here.

Stay clean, ladies and gents.

& I'm so sorry to hear that that happened to you.
I've got a friend from highschool who has herpes, & I've been shown the outbreaks. :(

I think you can get the medication they give for anti-virals? Google says

"Antiviral pills are your best choice for the treatment of oral herpes. They are more reasonably priced and work better. Antiviral therapy with acyclovir, famciclovir (Famvir), or valacyclovir (Valtrex) hastens the healing of lesions if treatment is initiated in the early stage. No studies compare the three, so think about which one is easier to take and at the best price."

Definitely make an appointment with your primary care physician.

Female condoms have an std transmission rate similar to male condoms, but that is under the assumption that the percentage of people using them incorrectly (Accidentally entering around the condom, condom too deep inside canal & not enough barrier surrounding mons, insufficient lubrication & tearing of condom) is included in the statistics.

Female condoms, cheapest online price, free shipping 25$ & over,

If you contracted Herpes Simplex 1 then it isn't cause for worry, although it's incurable. This can be transmitted through kissing or using a tainted kitchen utensil. A great deal of the population already has it. The most common symptoms are cold sores in the mouth area.

that may pass it on.  The rest of us will appreciate it.  Thanks!

It's best to avoid them, but if you have one refrain from all activities (like the hobby) that may pass it on.

Thanks!
_________

& don't be surprised that other providers haven't responded,
There is a lot of social stigma towards the topic, & also ignorance on the subject may cast someone in a bad light... I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to avoid that.

On top of that, many ladies on the board just won't reply if they have nothing to add to a conversation. This board is pretty good about that, lots of great mature mannered folk

You really need to see your doc to find out exactly what you have. And, how do you know you have it for sure? Sometimes a pimple, ingrown hair, etc can make us panic. You might get checked and find that it's nothing. Additionally, if it's an oral outbreak of HSV1, how do you know you didn't have it already? Many people have it and don't know; you could have had it since childhood.

If you caught it during DATY, that means you have it on your lips...

HSV1 and HSV2 can be located on the mouth or in the genital region, but HSV1 prefers (and usually causes more outbreaks) the lip area where HSV2 prefers (and causes more outbreaks) the genital region. HSV1 is becoming more common in the genital region though.

If you have HSV1, you might have recurrent cold sores, and you can give that to anyone you kiss on the mouth, during DATY, or maybe even by sharing a drink! Use a dental dam as a barrier so you don't infect more women.

If you have HSV2, you'll probably never have an outbreak again unless you're terribly unlucky. A dental dam would be wise to use though, just in case, because you don't want to pass it on.

Both types can be contagious even without an obvious outbreak.

So I have just started the hobby and have had one date. I research anything I get involved with and ask a lot of questions. I make assumptions that need to be tested as I move forward with my research. So one assumption I currently have is that as long as I stay with the $300 + per hour providers that are well reviewed I have a lot less chance of catching an STD from them then I would if I picked up a girl in a George Town bar on a Friday night.

One conception I have is that this hobby, at this level, is self regulating. I have never found a more efficient system than a self regulating one as opposed to a government regulated one.

So, you are keeping the provider you think you got the Herpes from anonymous. Well, I can understand that if you have not been to a doctor to actually verify your suspicions. And, even then you could have conceivably picked it up from a bar glass in China Town. Who knows?

However, if a provider knows she has herpes, it would take an awfully admirable person to admit it and ruin their career.

So how do the infected ones get identified and removed from the system? I would assume an infected client would be quickly identified and avoided by the providers given the screening hoops I have gone though so far.

When you get a herpes std test they take a blood sample. Herpes is a retrovirus meaning there is no cure for it like hiv. Also keep in mind that if you catch herpes it makes it easier for you to catch other STDs such as HIV. When having sex with multiple partners make sure that you have a strong immune system. That will help you fight off STDs.

Have you ever noticed the folks at work with cold sores hang around each other all time ? Cold sores are another form of herpes. Check the providers lips upstairs and downstairs to make sure there are no sores. Keep in mind that some people are carriers of herpes and never show outward symptoms.

It is recommended that hobbyists get STD tests every 3 months. Providers every month.

Never ever assume that the more you pay the less likely you are to get a STD.  There are providers at all levels of pay doing bbfs with clients, this in includes bbfs anal with CIA (cum in ass).

Like herpes that never dies this is a topic that never dies. It comes up every so often on this board. You can do a search and find the the threads.
