Top of the line.  On the expensive side, but excellent value

I've been craving for a good steak lately, but it seems like it is very hard to find an original American style steak house around here. Anyone has a good advice?

Hi!  You can find all sorts of nice steakhouses in Fairfax/NOVA.  There's a Ruth's Chris and a Morton's, both of which have very good steaks.

But may I suggest Fleming's?  It, too, is a chain (official name is "Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar"), but it doesn't feel too much like a chain.  It's in Tyson's Corner, across from Tyson's II on the other side of International Dr.  Excellent steaks, and if you opt for seafood, you can get lobster or king crab; scallops; and various fish dishes.  Me?  I always seem to go for the bone-in ribeye.  Medium rare.  Mmmmm.

I hope you find a good dinner!

(P.S., any chance Annie comes back for a visit?)

I totally agree with the previous gentleman but may I also add Capital Grille off of International drive.

Yeah I was going to mention the Capital Grill in Tysons. eom

Head to Arlington for Ray's The Steaks.

Sticking in Fairfax; Artie's is good:

When I say fish I don't mean salmon, or tilapia. I like rockfish and mahi mahi. Chilean Sea Bass. It seems like it's hard to find! Most places have salmon after salmon. Great suggestions for steaks. If anyone has for fresh seafood please mention! My tummy and tastebuds thank you.

You are experiencing difficulty locating your favorite fish because our oceans have been overfished for decades. Salmon is grown in freshwater farms like cattle which would explain why it's in abundance

A deep, withering echo of sadness.

Cant believe no mentioned The Palm.. Classic steak house chain based in NYC. For anyone who has been to the original shop on 3rd Ave In New York, the Tysons location is similiar but really missing the same atmosphere. The food is consistent and Im actually going there again in about an hour. I'll post an up date if things have changed. Oh for the seafood lovers, not your preferred choice as you probably know...

Now I must say I was at Flemings a while ago and had a steak better than than Ive had recently at The Palm or (please spare me) Ruths Cris Tysons Corner. Of the three, I might take another whirl at Flemings.

I saw this discussion thread earlier this morning during my commute, and was going to mention the Palm when I got to a real keyboard, but I see someone has beaten me to it!

Try J. Gilbert's in McLean, intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Rt 123.  They offer fine steaks and chops.  They also do a good job with seafood dishes.

Chima in Tysons is great, and as long as you an eat it, more steak keeps on coming!
