When I was getting verified with RS2K, they called my work. A woman working there called the main switchboard, and asked for me by name. When she got transferred and I picked up the phone, she simply said: "This is [her name] from Room Service". Then she asked me a few basic questions about my work. At the end, she said: "Everything checks out, have a nice day."
Another friggin question from a newbie that has probably been asked over and over.......When a provider asks for your work number for verification what do they say when they call? Do they just call and ask to speak with me? Is this just to verify your honesty? OR do they call up and specifically ask to verify you work there, how long you have worked there, etc? My company is very hesitant to give out any personal information over the phone. I had a hell of a time just getting them to confirm my employment and duration to my mortgage lender!

If you have an extension they will ask to be connected to it. If you don't they will say that they are calling from your doctor or dentists office to confirm an appointment. All they are doing is verifying employment, not asking for specific info.
One lady a few years back actually called to talk to me at work. Others have called to confirm "doctor's" appointments.
