Basically, she came over, took money and then went to bathroom. Came out, started looking for a cover. She looked inside her boots! I thought that was strange. But then she said she had forgotten them in the car and would be right back. I saw through her ploy to leave with the money. I stood in her path to the door and told her to give me back 200, take 100 and leave. She took out a pepper spray and threatened me to back away from the path. I didn't want to risk my job / career over 300 bucks since the hotel room was in my name. I didn't want to create a scene, lest the authorities become involved. So I let her leave. It was humiliating and a waste of precious time and money.

BP is OK for finding up what's happening TODAY in a particular area, but without some verification, the risk of poor service, fakes, ripoff is quite high. #1 search TER for the phone number. Google on the phone number and photos can be helpful, but I've been noticing some seemingly phony review websites appearing in such results (can't recall the website names, but they suspiciously have nothing but glowing reviews and high ratings looking up ANYBODY.

I found bp before I found TER, but was lucky never to have had your type of experience. Never will go back there. Why do legit girls use it? Why does a guy on TER bother? Ok, it's cheep. I get it.
I'm sorry that happened to you. I have to say I've actually had a few very very nice men that found me on backpage so it's not all terrible but I do screen so I'm sure that helps.
Most ladies I've talked to in the Bay Area who tried BP have run into low ballers, guys who refuse any type of screening , flakes etc. Most guys avoid BP girls because of horror stories like the one above.

That's definitely unpleasant, but it is a common scam.
Could have been worse though - there are a number of cases of undercover cops posing as providers on BP and busting guys. It's always very risky to call someone who isn't reviewed and verified.
