haven't been to the golden nugget in a while but it was always nice. only knock on the orleans is that you just can't walk to another casino if that is your thing.  i don't care so it doesn't bother me.  The orleans is great if you want to save some money and still have a good casino.

hi all,
I am looking to book a room but it cost way too much or sold out. Any thoughts where to get a good room without paying 300 a night?

Go to the website Extended Stay America and go for the Extended stay on valley view or on Flamingo. Also,Homestead Suites are good, and Studio Plus has good deals here in Las Vegas. I pay 320 a week. I have a family room, kitchen with a full fridge and microwave,2 tvs and a king size bed with a walk in closet and of coarse master bedroom. There's laundry facilities in those branches and some of those motels have a pool and a jacuzzi in some of them. You can pay about 20 to 30 more a week for something that's brand new, but no matter fully decked out new or 5 years old looking it's comfy and spacious for a good deal.If you go to any of those branches on Flamingo you'll be right on the strip. Good luck !

Also,

If you go to their website directly and pay with a credit or debit card then the prices are lower. Payless economy car is cheap online too.You can get a kia for a week for 120. You have the travel questions then I can give you the fairest budget. Ask me more?

at a seminar and stayed there ... ask for a loft and only the loft rooms which cost me $ 109.00 great room, living room and mini bar downstairs, small jacuzzi, and in the loft a fireplace and kingsize bed .... My place to stay when I can't get comped ... but remember ask for a Loft .. there number is 1 800.270.3574 ...hobby safe hobby well hobby all you can be .....

I agree with spinner, Alexis Parks is a good lower cost choice...plus they have just updated the grounds and remodeled some interior.  Also, it has outside access to the rooms.  I stayed there once on a day trip, primarily because of room availability and they accomodated an AM check-in request.  Although I don't recall what type of room, other then it was a suite,  the cost was around $179, but I'm sure they have rooms costing less.

Just an FYI. Alexis Park is also used by CES for booths and exhibits, so I doubt you'll find a room there cheap.

not a strip hotel but good prices and nice rooms.  a/c is a little loud but in January I don't think I use it too much.  last time i checked fri,sat was still 120 and thur, sun 70.  a good alternative to the major strip properties.  I try to stay with the newer hotels that are inexpensive rather than an older place like sahara, that you can usually get decent rates at.

Yep, I'm staying at The Orleans as well for an average of $120 a night for convention week. Four Queens and Golden Nugget on Freemont are $70 and $130 a night.

oh four queens is nasty.  although i haven't been inside a room for a while, i did you there this year to drop off some AVN show passes.  i felt like i was gonna catch something being inside there! hahahahaah

Plus Ive heard the rooms are tiny, but Ive heard some nice things about The Golden Nugget and I really like The Orleans, first time I stayed there was in June and for weekdays I only paid $58 a night for a nice sized room and the casino and places to eat are nice and sometimes easier to get a taxi because the can line wasnt an hour long, but at convention time I dont know. I stayed at The Luxor last year, which I love, but the cab line was almost three hours long, sucked

Another good thing about The Orleans, they let me check in at one instead of three, flights arrive at 11am from my area and I have to wait hours to check in at The Luxor, or Mandalay Bay, or MGM, so thats perfect for me, get in at 11, get my luggage around 11:30, get me cab by 12, then in the hotel and in my room by 1pm...perfect

Seems like we should all meet at the Aligator Bar on night and go from there

The two hotels mentioned already are good suggestions. I would also just go to www.Vegas.com. The thing is all these hotel/casinos raise and lower their rates depending on bookings. What is attractive one time may not be the next. Unless there is some extraordinary event occuring you can get a reasonably nice room wihtout it costing you $$$ per night. You might also try the tavel web sites like travelocity.com or expedia.com if you come up dry with vegas.com but my bet is you'll find something you can live with. Good luck.

that hotles book up fast.  i made my reservations a while ago.  the websites are good to find a price range but you can't smell the rooms or feel how hard the towels are!! hahaahaa

I have been going to CES the last 6 years and I have noticed that in December more rooms are released for sale that were originally blocked for the big exhibitor's attendees. So I would recommend getting something now that you feel comfortable with and then check back in December and you may be able to find a better place for the same or lower price. This show just keeps getting bigger and bigger...

They give you a (sadly, Windows-only) app that will check a bunch of websites at the same time.

No spyware, can do stuff anonymously. I recommend it for comparison shopping vegas hotels
