Camden is near Philly, about 90-120 minutes from NYC.

Arlington is adjacent to DC, with five bridges and multiple Metro lines to connect them.

Neither are "the boonies."  The metro DC area sprawls to the point where you need to drive west or south for an hour or more just to find some green space (it seems).  Northern Virginia is a major area unto itself; Fairfax + Arlington has 1.5 million people combined.

Agree that Dulles does not equal Tysons.  However, Crystal City/Ballston/Alexandria are all easily accessed from DC by Metro, Uber, or your own car.

And Tysons (if you know the ways around) is excellent in terms of parking for hobbyists and variety of lodgings.

providers post "coming DC" when they are actually out in the boondocks, which is in a different state.  It would be like posting arriving in New York and finding out that they are really in Camden...well, yes but it is in the state next door.

I understand using the DC board to advertise when you are in the boonies because there is not a Virginia board but, don't be misleading and advertise that you will be in DC.

Many ladies put on their ad location such as DC/NOVA, Arlington, etc.

I would recommend being a little more specific. I have contacted ladies to find location and they say Virginia -- not helpful.

NOVA is also huge.

I dont have a car so location is important.

There is a big difference between Dulles Nova and Clarendon NOVA, or Arlington on orange line or blue line.

And if you are not IN DC then why put DC when you are in Tysons five miles from a metro?

of course there is the one that many would like to believe, that they are trying to bait you in to a message and if its further than you thought you may still go since you initiated contact, but...

there are many that aren't from the east coast that really just don't understand the area.

being from maryland, whenever i travel and people say they are from dc i ask where. i hear "silver spring" so many times. i always go, "oh i had no idea there was a silver spring in dc, i know of the one in maryland....  ;)"

anyway, i really think that most from the area just don't understand the metro and the travel distance between most cities. it doesn't help when sites like hotels . com will give you places in areas that aren't convenient when you type in d.c....xx

the DC metro area, it includes Baltimore, at least one county in Pennsylvania and one in West Virgina so; advertizing that you will be in DC when you are really at Dulles Airport, is just misleading.

It is no different than advertising that you are in DC when you are really in the Inter Harbor.  I think you point that they are trying to bait and if its further than you thought you may still go is correct.

there are always those that think the worse of every situation in that victim like mentality... ;)

dulles airport may be in virginia, but it is referred to as "Washington dulles" so... god forbid a lady who doesn't live near here would assume that its in washington...
kinda like the washington redskins..

When I visit the area I usually will visit 2 or more towns.  I can't fit them in the subject line so I put noVA and then in the body I specify the areas I will be in.  If I am only going to be in 1 or 2 areas, I try and put those areas in the subject.  If I am not sure, then I will just put noVA/MD/DC....IF I am going to be in all those areas...and so on.
