END OF MESSAGE

Greetings guys!

I'm visiting DC for the very first time at the end of the month and I was hoping I could get some help on what areas to get a hotel in, what areas to stay away from, etc. Really any advice at all, would be greatly appreciated!

xoxo

est choice if you do not want to drive to DC.  It has a metro stop, garages, bars, restaurants, clubs, stores.

Some women are in to traffic and hassle or like staying inside the hotel during the visit.  For them it is Tysons Corner.  It now has a metro station but, there are no sidewalks to get to and from.

Maryland?  Just scan the DC board.  LE/LE/LE,LE,LE,LE

Dupont Circle in Dc area is pretty good but may be expensive, I have had a lot of people drive over to Alexandria, Va so I prefer going to Alexandria :-)

you can e-mail me at [email protected] to chat. I am based in NJ/NYC but I tour DC/VA when I can.

accessible to a large area of well off clients by car, metro accessible from both airports

The Metro rail system goes less than half way to Dulles, then there is a 1-hour bus ride between the airport & the Metro.  Even if you're coming from National, you've got to change trains at least once to get to any of the stations in Tysons Corner.  And Tysons is one of the least pedestrian-friendly places in the DC area once you get off the Metro!

from all the visiting ads here and other places. When the lady checks in, they take her money, then have security and the cops show her the door shortly thereafter.

Your statement is very general and broad.  Please provide specific examples of hotels in Tysons that do this.  It would be appreciated by both providers and their clients.  From the number of providers who stay at the Westin, they appear to welcome them with open arms.

If not, you should consider a career change. You're very good at it! How do you dream this stuff up? Notebooks with pictures! Taking payment then escorting them out!  ROTFLMAO!
Watch out guys, before you know it they will be strip searching us in the lobby and taking our envelopes!  That's after they escort the ladies out of course.

Metro goes to Tyson but, there are no sidewalks to get to and from the stations.  Highways and access roads.  It is a traffic nightmare but, guys who like to drive and like gridlock seem to like the place.  I read that Fairfax plans to develop a street grid by 2075 but, I won't be around to see it.

It's not too bad, but not necessarily easy--and depends on the hotel.

From DCA (Reagan National), it's the Blue line to Rosslyn and then the Silver line to one of the Tysons area stops.  At rush hour, it takes a little over 40 minutes.

From IAD, the easiest is the Flyer bus to Wiehle/Reston on the Silver line.  The bus runs about every 20 minutes, and the trip takes 15 minutes.  The Metro ride is 12 minutes.

The Spring Hill station is 1-2 blocks from the Sheraton Premiere and across Leesburg Pike from another hotel (Best Western, I believe).

The Tysons Corner station is at the new Hyatt and not far from the Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Courtyard, and Crowne Plaza (?).

Neither the Westin nor the Hilton is close enough for an easy walk, especially given how pedestrian unfriendly the area is.

DuPont is cute but parking is not that great for those who travel in from afar...  Hotels are expensive too....

I like Woodley park area right off the metro and the hotel right there is spread out .... Lots of cute Restraunt's & love the zoo....

I haven't explored Tyson's corner, one of these days... I will....

Crystal city the hotel staff treats u like crap... But hotels are very reasonable...

But as stated I haven't toured DC in forever due to being busy in my Civie/academic life so  hopefully I'm being a bit helpful....

Good luck

This all depends on what experience you want. Busy City? Dupont. Subdued City? Rosslyn. Tysons might get more clientele (just ask agencies) but you need a car there. Period. Metro sucks around Tysons. Crystal City is Metro accessible and fairly cheap, but not totally urbanized yet (may have to walk a bit for groceries and such). It all depends on your priorities. PM me if you want details on hotels to stay at that are "friendly".

I always have a great time when I've toured there in DC, the hobbyist & provider experience has been wonderful.... but I need to spread myself out & explore different areas instead of DuPont & Woodley ..... I'm off for the summer from my academics so my wanderlust is telling me to tour... But I may wait to come & see MADONNA there, Im trying to get tix for MADONNA's concert in DC.... Already got Chicago Tix via my all time ATF  .....  Woo whoo

Wherever you stay, DON'T make it the Crowne Plaza Tyson's Corner - mgt is twitchy, and it has two towers of rooms but there's no lobby signage, and the room #s are duplicated.  It's a recipe for disaster.  Good luck!
