.... (and not the actual poster) and they just happened to be into me and happy to see I was into whatever the hell I responded to.

I am guilty of this myself from time to time, and I know why I do it, but I was wondering why so many other people post on the board that they are looking for company instead of just seaching for the type of person they are looking for and contacting them.

Personally, I generally only post looking for company when I am on a short notice. I do it that way instead of contacting several people, as it seems to make the process go alot smoother on a short notice.

Are there other reasons that other people keep posting these threads?

Fairly frequently I get a free 'moment', whether during the day or very late evening.  In the DC area, VERY difficult finding somebody short notice or very late at night on short notice.

Have thought about it, but know its pretty fruitless endeavor, so haven't done it.

I don't know why its like this in DC.  I haven't had this problem in any other city, in fact just the opposite.

If you post and someone responds, you seem to have a high chance of connecting. If you just search, then how do you know if the girl you contact would even respond or be interested? Posting on the board raises your chances of finding the girl you like in a timely manner.

Many of the ISO posts I see are from out-of-town guys who may not know any of the local ladies. Shame on them for not doing a little research before coming to the area.

Some of the ISO posts I see are from local guys and/or newbies who either don't know how to do a search or don't care so they simply put up an ISO.

Then, seemingly no matter how detailed the request, the same handful of ladies always seem to respond. They may not meet any of the criteria mentioned in the ISO post, but there they are nonetheless. Or, you'll get some ladies who will acknowledge that they are not available and/or don't meet the requirements if the guy but feel compelled to post under him anyway.

It just seems to me that this board has become a breeding ground for lazy guys and ladies who simply have no marketing plan other than to put themselves "out there". To me and some others who have had this very conversation, it has become bothersome. I simply don't read these posts but I know of many gents who have tired of the constant similarities between these kinds of posts and E-Harmony.

Maybe I am mistaken, but TER seems to have allowed this board to stray from a Discussion Board and into a personal board for too many lazy people to find a date. Maybe a separate board would be in order for that?

But that seems like too much work. Just as much work as doing a detailed search, and finding a handful of ladies and contacting them, hoping in that narrow window of playtime, they will find that special one to fulfill the need... Eharmony? Needle in a haystack...

To answer your post, a LOT of the ISOs are not detailed enough. Bummer.

The ladies that do answer ISO's, myself included, I am sorry you are under the impression that we have no marketing plan and just put ourselves "out there". Reckless! I know for myself, I do take the time to check a reviewers history to see if they have a provider-type trend and if I feel we would be a match. And of the ladies that do respond, we usually have the reviews, scores, and the reputation to back up and provide exactly what the ISO is looking for! Bonus! So if the plan is to be aimless and clueless, I do beg to differ.

Honestly, a majority of ISO guys are time wasters. Just is what it is. If they do contact the ladies that post openly on the board or the other 20+ ladies that responded through PM, only a handful of those appointments go through. For various reasons. Bummer.

From the ISO's, there are more guys that lurk and check TER and have no interest in posting and/or reviewing sometimes, those ISO's help them as well. Lazy? No just different. So for the ladies to put themselves "out there" it actually does a yield return, which IS a part of the marketing plan. Thanks for the business advice!

TER has an ISO board, and though it is very broad, only a small percentage of the DC ISO's posts go there while most are more successful when posted locally. Not everyone takes the time nor cares to navigate this entire site. Just like some may not take the time nor care to just have the DC board only to "discuss." Of the discussions we have had, they have not necessarily been hobby related, but have brought out some interesting individuals and personalities that do contribute to the DC hobby scene. And from those discussions and ISO's, some matches have been made! So maybe not all is lost.

I don't mind the ISO post...
like SexyJade said.. many times are just time wasters... but I do get many business from responding ISO's and not necessary from the initial poster... so yes.. that's a marketing strategy too.

It's not intent, and I don't respond to ISOs unless there is at least a reasonable chance, based on research, that I may fit what the poster is seeking.  However, I have had several clients contact me saying "I saw you responded to that ISO and I was wondering..."  I certainly won't argue!

Warmly,

You only get response from those who frequent this board and, probably, has a lot of free time. Some of the top ladies do not participate on TER.

Just because you find them by searching does not mean that they have any interest in seeing you. Or they may not be available for the day/time you are interested in. ISO posts are very helpful in that it allows the ladies to come to you and you will have a higher chance of connecting with what you are looking for. It has nothing to do with being lazy or not knowing how to search. ISO posts helps us do what some of us are really here to do, and that's connect with a nice girl and enjoy time together. I've done a couple ISO posts myself and was very successful in finding what I needed. I don't get why so many guys get angered whenever they see such posts. Just don't read it. It wasn't meant for you anyway lol.

And I agree with them and you.

If the ladies were as "busy" as they make things out to be, they probably wouldn't have the time to be on the boards as much.

That has been the norm over the years on boards such as this.

As for the top ladies, while they may advertise on TER, they usually don't get involved in board discussions. They're too busy with clients. LOL!

...around this time of day.  Seriously.

While I do keep busy with this profession, I also enjoy another profession, and a full life outside of both.  I refuse to be tethered to technology.

I have replied to many ISO posts, but the one's that I do reply to are not looking for same day dates.  Those I would not reply to.  I have already washed my face, have the fluffy bathrobe on, and am pouring myself a glass of vino!

   Cheers!

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

Even though you may be on the boards twice a day, you don't always post (including, as you mentioned, selectively posting on ISO's).

That and your "traffic" warnings for DC are informative and helpful.

It truly is a shame we've never met in person. But that's my fault

Since I rather quality over quantity.... I don't HAVE to be "as busy" as you think we should be :)

I personally couldn't care less how busy ladies are or are not. Not my problem, none of my business.

Simple common sense dictates the facts here my dear.

If one is "busy" with other things, one would not have the time to be on the board as much as some are.

It really is as simple as that.

Why? because, I'm doing the research, but my request will be very specific, and strange. Won't be looking for the odd or different just something specific and its not covered in reviews or personal websites. I when I do ask, don't laugh.

P411 just added the option. There are 2 others that I can't name in a thread per TER rules.  If I were a guy, I would look at those and cross check them with TER.

TER has the Chat option, I try it sometimes but too many guys think you really want to chat about nothing. An available now option would be the perfect addition to TER, there would never be a reason to log into any other board if they had it here.
