But this is one of the questions I may have seen alluded to only a handful of times.

I have a theory just based on observations. Koreans do have a very close knit community and just decided to go down the path of hiring providers to work for them. These girls can barely speak English and are mostly brought in from Korea. While the Chinese and Vietnamese also have strong communities in the US, they just may have decided not to go down that path. A Korean will always help another Korean over helping some other Asian to break into this business. That's how the community grew. That's how a lot of Asians and South Asian cultures think and operate.

Its the same reason why you see a lot of Koreans (at least in the DC area) in the Dry Cleaning business. A lot of Indians in Motel, some kinds of Food Franchising businesses. A lot of Somalians, Indians, Pakistanis driving cabs.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but what about C-girls, J-girls, V-girls, whatever

Prostitution is legal in Korea.  The girls are licensed card carrying members and work the best 4 and 5 star hotels.  Thanks to Tippy Hedren the Vietnamese all learned how to do nails and thats why so many nail salons are run by Vietnamese.  Don't know why we don't see more Thai places as prostitution is very popular in Bangkok.  Japan and China not so much at all.  I lived in that region for 3 years and had a lot of fun in Seoul, Bangkok and Manila.

I'm speculating, but most responses here are probably speculation, and I'm sure there are multiple factors.

The map might help. There is a large Korean community in the MD-DC-VA region.

I'm sure there are plenty of Chinese providers in New York and the west coast, and Vietnamese in Texas. I know that a lot of Chinese providers cater to the Chinese community here and do not appear on TER and other sites; I'm sure the same goes for Vietnamese.

About 9, 10 years ago, there were plenty of Thai, and some Chinese providers. Actually, an agency rsn by Chinese had Thai providers. I guess Koreans kind of saturated the market with their agencies

I think some of the posts in this thread are well-intentioned, but superficial, misleading, and amount to false stereotyping.  Yes, dry cleaning businesses in this area tend to be run by Koreans.  They also run the best Asian food markets, e. g. H Markets, and what does that prove?  I don't think the Asians as a whole are essentially more clannish than other ethnic groups, but when they come here they often have to deal with exploitation, discrimination, language and employment barriers, etc.  No wonder they stick together and help each other out.  Have you ever lived overseas and see how the Anglos stick together?

That said, there are also distinct differences -- this is superficial but a K-J friend told me once that J girls in the business almost always had a sound business plan for at least a year in the future.  How much they needed to make, how much to save, discretionary funds, etc.  In her view K girls were more likely to take their $$$ and buy Gucci handbags.  I don't know if that's true, but that's what she said.

In NYC, J-girls tend to dominate because there are so many Japanese businessmen there.

This whole topic is  a can of worms and I suggest we can the racial stereotypes and stick to basics, i. e. to understand what's going on, just "follow the money!"

This is an intimate one-on-one activity. We are free to express our preferences. There is no can of worms as long as we are not demeaning anyone.

And it is our differences that make us interesting. Each group has its own culture and I love learning about each of them and interacting with them. So far it has been a wholly positive experience for me, and hopefully with my providers as well.

It seems C- girls are around in this area but mostly in the Backpages. I actually tried a couple of those "fake ads" where the girls are obviously photoshopped whatnot and when i go see the girl she's chinese. Interestingly enough all 3 times (diff places) it is a Korean lady running the chinese girls - not sure if it means anything but that's my observation. I also think maybe culture difference as well but dont want to use stereotypes whatnot. But there are chinese providers though - the Elusive Bellissa is one i believe, i think jade was one and a couple others?
