I am not speaking for other providers, but I personally never expect a tip. This means that if there is even an extra ten padding the envelope I am very pleased. With any gift of any amount it is always the thought that counts. I have had the pleasure of an extra twenty in which I used to have a relaxing lunch on the patio of  my favorite Italian restaurant . I thought about the gracious offering that allowed for such a nice afternoon. Other times I have been blown away as in one case where a first time client gave me a 300 gift certificate to the Canyon Ranch Spa. Again I was smiling the whole afternoon. In my personal opinion any tip at all no matter what the size will make the lady feel special. A special thank you goes out to all of the wonderful men out there that don't leave extra in the envelope but go out of their way to have that perfect bottle of red wine waiting, or special chocolate covered strawberries. I think that it's the over feeling of thoughtfulness that makes a lady leave with a permanent smile. Again, that is just my opinion.

Is there any general rule on tipping?  i'm never quite sure what's right, especially after spending some big $$$ already.  let's say you have a good/very good experience (7-8) with an established, popular provider, two hours, the usual.  What would an appropriate tip be?  I know it depends, of course, on the experience, etc; but is $20 an insult or about right?  $50?  is there a percentage that people tend to do?  And do the more popular providers generally expect a little something at the end, or do they expect a big something (15%), or is it not that common?  (To repeat, i know it all depends, but there have to be some general expectations.)

if i have an 8 or above date, i tip 1 or 2 hundred.  if i rate a 7 or below i dont tip.  a 50 dollar tip is not an insult.

As far as I'm concerned, if I'm paying $400 or $500 per hour I expect it to be all-inclusive it the provider is independent.  But if it's an agency girl (which I tend to avoid) and I'm paying $400 per hour - I'll tip an extra $100 if she's good.  But Independents make plenty as it is - not tip necessary.

1. put your foot in front and push at the shoulders.
2. make sure there's a soft place for her to land.
3. don't play the ponies.
4. Microsoft @ $22/share.

Hey wait, am I on the wrong track?

I sometimes wonder whether it's worth the effort.  I routinely put something extra in the envelope, whether it's cash or a gift certificate.  The amount varies, but it's usually either $50 or $100, depending upon the length of the appointment.  However, except on one occasion, I've never had the tip acknowledged.  I don't expect anything spectacular and certainly not any special favors.  Still, it would be nice to know that the provider appreciates the gift and a simple "thank you" would be great.  When you don't hear anything, it makes you wonder if your gesture was even noticed.
