I think it's not impossible if both Democrats and Republicans are talking with one another. I think both parties are terrified that if Trump were to loose big and drag record number of republican house (senate goes without saying) down with him it would really open the window for the serious third party to emerge and maybe even a fourth party and more. Conservatives and Tea Party types may peel off the Reps and organize their own parallel groups with different names, and Liberals just may break off the Dems and do the same for themselves. That can turn American electoral system into free fall and finally break the domination of two major parties.  
   
 I know I know another conspiracy theory. But... think about it. Currently all is so predictable when Dems are in power the Reps come to teach at Harvard and when Reps get in Dems do exactly the same. 3-4 parties could throw it all into the tailspin. They both must be at least somewhat worried.
