Rude realization about the hobby.

I had a stupid rude awakening about the hobby. I trade daily in the futures market. And had a big monetary loss. I was distraught and called a provider who I thought was a friend and she told me I was bothering her because her phone could be expecting client calls. I asked if there was another phone, and she said her regular landline doesn't work as it had problems. Anyways I had talked about my trading with her before a few times. So it was disappointing and I was angry. So a few things I should have learned early on. Providers are not your friends even if you've seen them more than a few times. It's not helpful to share financial matters as they are not interested unless you're a billionaire already and probably not for respectful friendly reasons.

Still there are some providers with a heart of gold.

In my industry those we think are friends are mere bumps on the road.

Sorry you hit a bad bump and not everybody is a douche.

you find out who your real friends are. That's good knowledge to have when things turn around and it's time to be generous again.

Brenn said it best! Things will turn around and when they do ;)........

It sometimes gos both ways. I had a client who I thought was a friend and ended up telling my whole life story to a provider who clearly did not like me. Of course she took the information and ran with it. Long story short...Is I have a new incall. Bigger and better incall at that ;)

So I know how you feel. But not too sure if we know each other or not since you used a alias but If you would like to IM till you cheer up..I'm here :)

Sorry to hear of your financial woes. Settle for the fantasy , not those who make it real.

Thanks for the comments you all. I probably can't make a blanket statement about the hobby and all the participants. You're right in that in times of distress I'll find out who the friends are and who just to keep it a fantasy. Thanks.

If this is someone you have seen multiple times and been good to, then she was doing to a favor showing her true colors like that.  Just go some where else.  Granted maybe she was just in a mad mood herself that day, but still it is not like you are looking for providers in Nome Alaska.  The Los Angeles area is a competitive market with an almost overwhelmingly high number of options.

I'm sorry you had such an experience...It must have been the *wrong* provider. I am sure there are many ladies who would have reacted differently. I know if it had been me, I would have jumped at the chance to be there for you. But, then I'm not sitting by my phone waiting for calls..and I don't do this because I have to. But, either way..I have a high standard for customer service, and I actually care to provide a true friendship and bond. Hope you're doing better now. :)

I used to have some "friendships" with providers.  Thing is, what makes them good providers is that they are able to make you feel like their best friend.  The really great providers actually are sincere and genuine.

I think the only real way to know if they are your friend is to go through what you did, or when they quit this business, they still want to stay in touch.

Sorry this happened to you, but not all of them are like that.  Just don't expect it and it's a really pleasant surprise when you do find the good ones.

That said, I have had a number of friendships with girls in the industry but it has to develop naturally.  You may have also just caught her in a bad mood as well.  My bottom line with all of this is to minimize my expectations, harder to be disappointed that way!  I would also point out, tho, that even on a business level, her reaction was a bad one.  If this is someone you've seen regularly, I would imagine you'll be less inclined to do so in the future.  One of the things some of the girls seem to forget is that it's a buyer's market for this hobby!

I thought it was more than pure business, I got burned.  I used to question the jaded Hobbyists on this Board, I am now one of them.  Better to learn the lesson sooner than later.

A provider is a entertainer, you pay for their time and companionship,  for your entertainment.  They are not your sounding board or psychologist, or your friend.  You went looking in the wrong place for whatever you were looking for.

She could have been a little more gracious and said, I'm sorry, but I can't talk right now.  But I get the feeling you called her in a panic and she was certainly not in the mood to hear about your troubles, they are really none of her concern.  You sound very inexperienced, you have to draw the line on what your relationship with a provider is.  Tables could turn the other way, too.  How would you feel if she called you and started chiming in about her ex -boyfriend, or some problems she was having, while you are busily doing your day trading?  Something to think about.  She's not your girlfriend.

I hate that people are like this. One person opens up and the other says "You are bothering me"????

As others have said- some of us do have a heart.  I keep a lot of people at arm's length but if someone truly opens up to me- I am putty.  It's a gift and it is trust and it should be welcomed, appreciated, and reciprocated.

Sadly- this is not always the case.  :(

Nevertheless, if you need a friend or just someone to talk to- feel free to message me.

XOXOXOX
