I was 21 when I got my first gash for cash; now I'm 50. 30 years ago you were a "John" or simply a whoremonger; now you're a "Hobbyist".
During times when I had a LTR going on I'd quit until the relationship began to sour (funny how they do that;-) )then I'd find myself on the hunt again for pragmatic prurience. Then I hit 45, and with two marriages, several live-ins and countless girlfriends in the shitter I decided "Whatdafuck" It all breaks down to what they're getting for acquiescing anyway. PAY em' and LAY em' on YOUR schedule, when YOU want it, and within YOUR budget, and if you develop a few genuine friendships along the way; all the better.

I'm a relative newbie to the hobby(about 7 months into it), and I saw a post recently about how addictive the hobby can be. It made me wonder if any of you (hobbyists or providers) have thought about quitting the hobby.  If so , have you tried to quit , but couldn't? Did you quit for a while but just couldn't stay away?

I'm really enjoying the hobby so far, but am interested in any thoughts any of you might have regarding the above questions.

Runningman

About twelve years ago after my wife caught me and made me promise to stop.

I made it about two months or so.

I had already been actively hobbying for six years at that point.  I had a number of close relationships with providers and I missed them greatly, so I went back to it.

I got caught a second time and told the mrs. that I need to do this.

She went along with it for a few years, then divorce.

No regrets.

In response to the question of quitting the "Hobby", I would like to quote a good friend of mine.  We are both pilots (Vietnam experience)  boaters (I have a center console fishing boat, he has a similar one)  and horny old farts.  (Late 50's)  Tommy says, and I quote,"If it floats, flies, or f*%^s, you are better off to rent it"

I was never as active a hobbyist as many of the guys here, but I recently became much less active. I now only see one lady and when she retires, so will I.

If you ever become concerned that you can't quit, the only way to really know if you can or not is to actually quit.

Yes, when I'm spending $$ on my dick I could be using for retirement or my kids' college fund or something nice for my wife or a nicer vacation... While it's lots of fun, and I try to convince myself that I'm using disposable cash, I know ....

Isn't that the thing you're forced to do with your family while you're wishing you were with that special someone?

Quit???  Never!

I've actually quit.

I actually started hobbying in the early 90s and somehow just lost interest in it.  I didn't find a girlfriend or have money problems, just lost interest.

I recently got back into it last year to relieve some stress I was feeling.  Now I'm starting to wind down again.  Am I getting ready to quit again?  In the near future, I'll probably slow down and just see a couple or ladies as a regular.
