If you heard how it was run or saw the condition of the kitchen and walk-ins, you might not include it on the list. Chef Bonk isn't exactly the sharpest knife unfortunately.

Maybe one day I'll do a list of "hot" restaurants that could be on Kitchen Nightmares for sanitation reasons. I'm in the industry and proctor ServSafe exams, so I can't help but notice things. It's a curse sometimes.

Yes, some of these have been around for years but they have been overlooked. As a bachelor who only eats home cooking when I go to Mom's house (in Maui), I spend a huge percent of my income on dining out. Every now and then a noteworthy Restaurant thread pops up. One thing I do not do is feed the huge corporate chains. I support local businesses but make an exception for something extraordinary. These stand out since the last restaurant thread and every one of these would fit perfectly for a dinner date. So here goes:

THE PIG in Logan Circe  NW BBQ  http://www.thepigdc.com/

LA PERLA in Foggy Bottom NW  Italian  http://www.laperlaofwashington.com/

ATLAS ROOM in NE  Modern Fusion  http://www.theatlasroom.com/

RIS in West End NW Modern American  http://www.risdc.com/

PEARL DIVE in Logan Circle NW  Seafood  http://www.pearldivedc.com/

BISTROT CU COIN in Dupont Circle NW  French  http://www.bistrotducoin.com/

KAZ  in Farragut West NW Sushi http://www.kazsushibistro.com/

I am sure that the same can be said for many top rated places. After 20+ years in the industry myself, I agree with your assessment.  Aside from being dim-wits most Chefs I know or worked with are belligerent @$$holes with narcotic, alcohol and depression problems. I have had physical altercations more than once with them.
