It's a curse sometimes.Yes, some of these have been around for years but they have been overlooked. As a bachelor who only eats home cooking when I go to Mom's house (in Maui), I spend a huge percent of my income on dining out. Every now and then a noteworthy Restaurant thread pops up. One thing I do not do is feed the huge corporate chains. I support local businesses but make an exception for something extraordinary. These stand out since the last restaurant thread and every one of these would fit perfectly for a dinner date. So here goes:

I am sure that the same can be said for many top rated places. After 20+ years in the industry myself, I agree with your assessment. Aside from being dim-wits most Chefs I know or worked with are belligerent @$$holes with narcotic, alcohol and depression problems. I have had physical altercations more than once with them.
