Hmm... yeah I think I'm going to see a provider that doesn't need that information and then get references to go from there. An escort calling my employer (even with the utmost discretion) is not something I want to deal with.

I'm very new to this whole hobby having only found out about this site about a week ago. I upgraded to a VIP membership the same day and have been on the boards and review pages in search of my first provider :). However, I still have one question about the screening process (I've read through almost all of TER's instruction manual and searched the boards for the answer)... What is the job/work phone information used for that is required in most screenings? Do agencies/independents call the business to verify employment or is it simply a precautionary measure should something bad happen? I'm only asking because I'm really not comfortable with an escort/agency calling because my job is worth more than any amount of hobbying out there (I don't have my own phone at work).

In my cases, they've used it for screening.  I work in a typical company.  They will call the switchboard, ask for me, and when they get transferred to my number they hang up.  I think some providers will call to verify your employment, like they are doing a credit check for a car loan.  I think they are pretty good at being discrete.

Welcome to the wild world of hobbying.

Some gals/agencies use a work number to identify employment/confirm identity.

I NEVER provide that information.  Had a bad experience one time and that was enough for me.  Discretion is key for both people.  There are other services that can be used to provide a reference, at least in the beginning.  A lady can provide one after that. Just another perspective.  Good luck.

I just had a thought. I am a pilot (though it's not my profession... yet :)) and I'm wondering if they could take my certificate information to confirm my identity. The FAA has a database online w/ my full name and home address that matches my driver's license. Are agencies/gals usually somewhat flexible on what's specifically needed for screening?

Probably won't for everyone, but will for someone.  After all, a big part of what she wants to know is who you DON'T work for.

Personally, I'd be more worried about giving out my home address than my work phone number.  All they can do at work is fire me (and unlikely that would happen) but there's a person at home that could make my life a LOT more unbearable.
