It's only a test, prevents nothing.

I get tested every 28 days, I have been since my adult movie days.  As long as I'm in the hobby, I will always test, I'm worth it and so is everyone else. With that being said, there are those in the hobby who feel a test is an OK go to BB or do other dangerous acts.  A test will only tell you if you have anything, it will NOT prevent any disease from being spread.  A test only shows your clean up until the time you took the test.  The quality of test you use is also a factor.  Most family doctors and free clinics use a test that is cheaper but can miss a virus.  There are more expensive tests (the ones I use) that are less likely to miss a virus.

The worst thing anyone can do is to not use a rain coat because your tested.  That's just begging for a disease.

Play safe, get tested and take care of you...YOU should be your highest priority.

So I was in Amsterdam recently and connected with a few wonderful high end ladies while I was there. They advertise a lot over there that they are required to do medical screening frequently in order to stay compliant with the laws. It got me thinking, how often do providers here in the US check themselves medically for the safety of themselves and their clients? Also, on the flip side, do any of our hobbyists check themselves periodically? Not looking for folks to say yes or no, just looking for conversation on what you think of the law over there requiring it vs our situation where we don't have regulations and rely on ourselves.

Yep. Wish I could tell you better. There cant be a generalization. The legalized brothels of Nevada do it because they are regulated.
Other than those its really upto the individual, hobbyist or provider.
The more local administrations keep their heads in their ass, the longer this risk will linger.

I'm sure they do if they feel like it.

If

Providers should definitely get checked out regularly.. and women all over in general. So many health issues besides STD's that could be caught. I'm not sure that men ever really get checked like woman should/do but it is always a good idea if you are sexually active in my opinion.

Should get a FULL PANEL OFTEN!  I do one every 3 months.  It will not only detect STDs but other deficiencies and health issues as well.

Agreed! Plus, while it may not prevent anything it can help prevent the spread.

Did you work at the Bunny Ranch at one time?

Awesome. Will be in Vegas in December so maybe I will see you there.

It is up to the individual to stay on top of their sexual health, however, certain insurances probably don't cover all of the testing that needs to be done, which, as others have stated, become invalid after your next sexual encounter anyway.  I think the best way is for individuals to protect themselves, and use protection every time.
