Take a day trip about 1 hour north of the airport to Beaufort - have lunch along the waterfront, take the horse-drawn carriage trip - interesting small town with lots of history and a great waterfront park.  (Park at the marina - lower rates and lots of spaces.)  It can get crowded with tourists on Saturdays this time of year.

Activity - try a kayak tour from Tybee

I've always been fascinated by it...So I need some suggestions on what to see and what to skip..

I'm going to Tybee Island and would love suggestions if you have any!!

Great place !
Only one way on and off the island and its a $3.00 toll . Just remember that and anything you may need when going on the island as there is not a huge selection of shopping as its mostly rental homes and hotels .
Bikes are the best way to get around and gain access to a beach you might want to check out

Must do:
Crab Shack on the way out to Tybee Island...OMG !!! I suggest the sampler platter...
Bonaventure Cemetery
Live music in City Market
College Night Thursday at 309 West on River Street $10 all you can drink (well only, if they still have it)
Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar

Probably skip (IMHO): Lady and Sons , Cracker Barrel food at Chops prices....
Avoid the area SOUTH of Park Avenue(Forsyth Park) unless armed.
After sunset stay in heavily populated areas, it has gotten to be a dangerous town in the past year or so...
If you are planning on it being a working vacation plan ahead, stay in the airport area away from downtown.

PM me if you want more details, I lived there for 10 years and know the area extremely well

definitely go down to river street for dinner !
Great restaurant's and old historic feel to the place .
Also if you have time go to Cumberland Island. Its left COMPLETLEY natural with no development !
Horses roam free , BEAUTIFUL woods and paths that lead to great natural beach's - totally untouched !

Yes, if you love all natural pure beauty,  Cumberland island is so breathtaking.  I used to live in St. MARY'S When I was younger and we use to take the ferry there all the time.  I'm thinking of going camping there this summer.
Hope you have fun! :)
XOXO,
T

We could still ride dune buggy's on the Sandmound's.  Now you can't even walk on them which is probably good thing. Camping is also great but bring mosquito repellent. I got a BJ watching a turtle lay eggs. It was wonderful.

DO NOT STAY ANYWHERE NEAR MIDTOWN on or around Abercorn.  Not safe, there has been a rash of armed robberies at Hotels in that area.

Savannah does have good nightlife, but for my money I'd forgo Savannah and Tybee and pitch my tent at Hilton Head Island-only an hour north and have better and safer clientele and some of the best beaches in the world.
