I don't see any hate coming from Trump. It's just his oversized ego . . .

being loud and brash and thinking that he can snap his fingers and make things work (or go away) just like he does with his company.  If America were ever unlucky enough to have him in the White House, the blowhard will find out that Washington and our government doesn't work that way.

All this talk about hate, Hitler, racism, etc. surrounding Trump has really been overblown.  He's nothing more than a rich loud mouth with an ego even bigger than Bill's and Hillary's put together.  He's full of himself and enough fools -- many of which haven't voted for years and aren't real Republicans -- have fallen for his "non-conventional candidate" bullshit and have put him one election away from being Commander-in-Chief.  That in itself is a scary thought.

The really sad part is that it's not much -- if any -- less scary on the other side.

These will clearly be the worst options America has ever faced at a Presidential election.

and while they are hardly a "party united" they ended the convention stronger than they were going into the convention. I wonder if the Dems will fare as well? It seems like our flag has been flying at half mast more often than at full mast, I wonder what the impact of yet another full blown terror attack will do for/to the Dems next week? OTOH, if a "home grown" mass shooting happens, I wonder how that will affect the race?

The gambits are all laid out, and IF they make a case refuting them, then they get an edge. But if NOT, they fall very far behind.

And if the counter ISIL coalition progresses to where enough defense minsters can pull off a major offensive next week (uh, Turkey might only play a minor role), will that favor...?...?...which party?

But since the GOP basically "held serve" tonight, it's up to the Dems to do the same.

Despite the talking heads panning Trumps speech tonight, the polls show his speech was very well received tonight and that will be the last thing that people will remember from this weeks convention. The advantage in having the "last word" still falls to the Dems, but if they fumble the ball, advantage Trump.

Those who watched it tended to be Republicans, not the mass public, so hardly  scientific polling.

kind of a lame observation, surprised, you're supposed to be one of the "smart ones", remember ?

Try it. No, you don't have to try it on people, just imagine how you'd do it. Write a few sentences that uses fear to prompt people to social action without hatred. Maybe fear over climate change can get people to recycle their beer bottles, but to get any real action going we eventually come around to pointing fingers at boogie men.

So it can benefit the GOP.

I calls em as I sees em.

but if you have noticed lately, the flag has been flying at half mast a LOT lately, I would have to say the chances of a major terror attack on any given week is now at about 50-50 world wide.

And if you were paying attention a "home grown mass shooting" especially one by a white man with an AR 15 plays into the hands of the Dems. Please keep up with the conversation, you are supposed to be one of the "smart ones", remember?

...we have our chance to see what is going to happen after the shooting(s) in Germany.

I wonder what you were watching and the only ones that think that are Trump supporters.

Also the mass shooting in Orlando and police shootings on both sides have been enough for this country to deal with GaG.

So now you are wondering about how a full blown terror attack would affect this political race?
We already got a preview of how stupid Trump acted, compared to Hillary on the mass shootings.
The last few weeks and that should have answered your thread question already.
