My thoughts about "touring" in DC

I would be curious as to when these cancellations occurred.  My guess is right around when Congress either started session or ended session (Feb/March and end of July and September/October - ish).

Seems like you would have to tour around the times of high stress, paired with time available for clients (needing stress release).  Cancellations are not uncommon in this town for ALL businesses.  Nature of the area.  We're NOT CONSISTENTLY 9-5 w/ long lunches.  That being said, there is a LOT of flexible time, but again, its not consistent.

I have tried to arrange dates in advance, but its just not possible and not fair to the ladies to make an appointment and then have to cancel.  Thats why I pretty much stick to agencies or providers who screen easily and quickly.  One thing I'm trying is getting ok'd in advance, thats about a 1:5 response level on getting approved - so you can see why I, personally, don't see many independents.  (I understand the provider safety issue of not wanting to do that, though).

If you build up a client base, and are a consistent and good provider you'll do great.  I know of two that I see and they rarely have to advertise, maybe twice a year and even thats becoming less-and-less.  Start to be inconsistent and flakey, the Type A personalities here will drop you quicker than a hot coal.

Feel free to PM to ask questions

Hello, I wanted to write this thread because I'm trying to get an idea of the politics of DC from a relocation perspective.

I have visited the area twice in the past year, staying a few days each on average. I consider a move there, but deep down inside I have a feeling there would be some issues in due time. Part of the issue I find is the fact that, despite DC and surrounding Maryland having high black populations, each visit yielded me no black clients who I actually met. All have been white, with the exception of a man I seen from bogota during this past trip. I have no issue with that, but I take into consideration that If the majority ethnicity there isn't buying my product, I may be competing for a smaller number of clients versus a larger number of competitiors.

It makes me wonder, if I move there, how long would it be before the pool runs dry? And also, where does a black woman stand competition wise in such an area? I've always done good there, but always felt I could have done better. The 2nd trip wasn't as good as the first either.

Is there anyone who can give me some insight as to the pros and cons of being in DC. also, if I were to move there, I know staying in the district wouldn't be an option. I'd have to live in Maryland or Virginia. Any pros cons to living in those areas?

to determine what is the distribution, based on race, of guys is at the price point that you are offering your service. Just because there is a good proportion of Blacks in the area doesn't mean that there is the same proportion of blacks at the price point at which you are marketing yourself.  That ratio could be skewed in proportion of white folks.

Another thing needs to be considered is whether majority of guys in general try to seek gals that are not of their race?  Couple of black guys I have talked to are just addicted to white/asian women, and a few guys can't get enough of black girls. Its but natural to crave for something that you DON'T have..

And last thing...2 visits is a very small sample size..

As you can see, its a futile effort to try and worry about this, as you will never be able to get the data needed.

Why don't you check with other black ladies to see where they advertise and what kind of clients they get - of course if they are willing to share... There are plenty of successful black ladies who seem to do quite well.

Well, the study can only be revealed by experience lol. I know 2 visits is a small sample, but those are visits that lasted 4-5 days with 4-5 MONTHS of marketing in 4-5 different sites lol.

It's hard to get the real truth from other ladies, but here are 2 who I speak to regularly...1 black, the other white...and they are my mentors (follow them on Twitter/blogs and chat maybe once or twice a year). The very gorgeous white escort told me that on 1 visit, ALL her clients cancelled in DC. I know she wasn't bullshitting, because of how she explained it happened. But stuff like that is concerning.

At the same time, DCs possibilities seem endless because there's always peoplel traveling into the area. I live in Denver now, and the pool hasn't just dried up, but when I do get clients here, it's just little small amounts of money here and there. They don't book long sessions out here, and my regulars refuse to pay me any more than they have to. It's just 1 hour appointments, when they know they could have me all night, but hate the idea of me being able to pay my rent in 1 appointment. I don't really get guys traveling in booking me much either....like they once did 2-3 years ago. It's RARE that I go to a hotel downtown or in the tech center anymore. In DC, I went to hotels in both downtown and Tysons corner.

I tell ya, living in Denver is client HELL right now. I don't even feel independent anymore, I feel like these guys are just throwing me table scraps. I'm just so ready to leave.

1. There are lots of successful ebony providers. Where do you stand compared to who?

2. You will find that the majority of your clients will be white men. That's just the way it is (at least in my experience).

3. If you're good at what you do, you will have regulars and won't have to worry about the "pool" running dry. Why isn't staying in the district an option? Just curious. You could get a place in TC.

Last but not least, focus on your marketing/branding/offering and you'll be fine.

I agree with these points!

As I look back on when I began in Philadelphia a few years ago, being an escort is no different than running other businesses. You have to start somewhere, you have to market and advertise properly/consistently, and your business will grow over time.

I have done a lot of touring, and I would have to agree that the majority of clientele are Caucasian.
Definitely some of everything in this world of ours though. Ebony providers, I feel, can be successful in many cities. It's just up to you to give yourself a good reputation.

Personally, most of my favorite clients are in DC, and I make the trip from  NYC often.
I'm not sure where you're moving from, or if you are a touring provider, but one major plus to living on the east coast (particularly the NE) is that you are in close proximity to several major cities. Boston, NYC, Philadelphia are all easily accessible by plane and rail. As your home base builds, you have many work options. Possibilities are endless!

Many Eurasians seem to have the best of both worlds with smooth skin from their Asian heritage, and bodacious curves from their European heritage (like you). Also, their facial features are mixed just right; not too big and not too small. Plus, there aren't too many in this hobby as opposed to pure Asians.

Living in he district isn't an option because I have a vehicle, and want to remain that way. I hate the idea of off street parking or 'buying' a parking space. Also, I'll be coming a long ways from Denver, and likely on a very tight and limited budget, thanks to the fact that denver clients have totally forsaken me, and don't even give me enough money to pay my cheap Denver rent (hence why I'm gone 2-3 weeks out of the month, every month).

I know some who got their evicted, electricity cut off, doing incall a moms place, etc. They use to make a lot of money. Every-time they try to raise the rate by $10 they have to lower back down to the low rate they offered. Our region has has been dealt with very heavy crackdown on prostitution. This has scared many clients off. Lets not forget the sequester last year. I know guys who were making $150+ and have been out of work for 1 to 2 years. Some landlords are no longer increasing rent because demand is down for rental property.

I recommend that you get a daytime job if you move here only be a provider for supplemental income.

there are limited number of black woman providers in the DC area.  You may want to consider either the Philly, Atlanta or Dallas areas instead of DC.

Dallas is a dying market. I used to work there circa 2008-2010. Occasionally I go back, and it gets worse and worse each time. Too many providers, and too many clients who have lost their jobs.

If we knew what you looked like. Or if you had reviews of any sort? That could have a huge effect on your business.

I prefer to remain incognito, I made the mistake of publicly posting on punting forums in the past, and it did numbers to my sense of security...but I'm an honest 8 on a scale 1-10. I am I shape, have a Colgate smile, and dress well. At the same time, I'm not some 38dd porn starlet either.

If you’re worried about not having enough clients from the majority ethnicity, Bahamia, you should know that the city is flipping: it’s gone from chocolate to caramel and is probably heading toward vanilla. Depending on who you ask, we’re not the majority anymore, more of a plurality (more of us than anybody else, but we’re less than 50%). (I’m Black, as if you hadn’t guessed.)

So if you’re worried about the pool running dry, the pool might be mainly the kind of guys you’ve seen, White guys, especially at the so-called high end (I guess that should be “deep end” to keep the metaphor straight).

But the area is becoming even more affluent, so there is money to be made here. And there are brothers with money here, though based on the tales I’ve heard, you’ll have some stiff competition from some thirsty civvies on that front. I don't want to put our business out there, but some conscience-free brothers with cash and skills are having a FREE field day out there.

As far as living in Maryland and Virginia, you might not miss much not living in DC. The area is flattening out - Metro is expanding, going as far as Tyson’s Corner in Virginia now, and it seems like every little suburban township is urbanizing, getting some kind of “town center” with shops and theaters and restaurants. So the city has some competition for amenities and conveniences. (But DC itself has more flavor, as far as I’m concerned.)

Maryland and Virginia are still cheaper for the most part, but they’re catching up fast

Thanks for the thoughtful insight. Yes, I clearly seen there are brothers there who are packing some serious... figures lol. But it was disheartening that non of them SHOWED UP. The ones in Los angeles do though. Weird.

I have researched that the area has become less 'cocoa', and more white. But, I live in Denver now. And here in Denver I don't really get any here

Well, you might have one here you can see next time you come through town. I haven’t really been in the game for a few months, but I’m thinking of jumping back in. Before I left, I’d developed a real hunger to see some sisters. And I still have it.

(For what it’s worth, I saw a White lady about a year ago who was going through something like you’re going through. But she was seeing mainly Black guys and wondering where the White guys were. I guess it made her feel more objectified than usual. Or kind of isolated?

The last 10 clients have survived. Don't think that'll be an issue lol. I should have put, kill the PREVIOUS client lol. The one who drove me to post it.

I rarely ever post or reply due to my preference of being and staying very discreet. I consider myself an experienced client at this point, been hobbying for close to a decade or so. Im one of the fairly young (mid 30's) chocolate brothers (the alias is there to throw you off, lol) who have done pretty well for himself, considering my upbringing in this concrete jungle we call DC. But I can personally attest to your competition being the black civie women when it comes to the demographic that includes guys such as myself, and if im not mistaken, dcpoorboy. Not to gloat or brag but Im beating sisters off me with a dynamite stick. So when I do indulge in the hobby its usually with a woman of another ethnicity. Dont get it twisted though, I still will see a black provider, maybe you on your next trip, I'll be looking out for you. Its just not my usual due to the availability of black civie women. All I have to do is Not Mess It Up. No smooth talking, no game, no slick tricks, just dont mess it up, coupled with the fact that im a decent looking dude. Its easy to say the least. So considering your rate, I'm assuming its lingering around $$$+, the majority of your clientele will be caucasian men. As long as youre comfortable with that, you can be successful here. As far as living goes, the city has definitely changed since I was kid. No more chocolate city. Regentrification is in full swing. But depending upon where youre comfortable with living, there still are some affordable homes and rental property in the DMV located in decent areas, not much, but there are definitely some still around. If youre a honest girl, pretty, and good at what you do. DC or the DMV for that matter is a great place to call home!

Kind of a funny thread because of previous threads of providers not dating AA men.  Why do you want to date AA men, aren't clients clients?

That being said (also funny, people think I'm white), I agree that it would be difficult for a black woman to have black men pay.  In this hobby for a different reason, but dating a black woman is no problem whatsoever and a lot of opportunity.  I mean drop dead gorgeous model quality.  The issue is with them leaving, not staying - as somebody said, dynamite stick removal necessary.

I see AA providers on occasion, and as noted its for a change of scenery.  I have a certain type, so would need to see a picture.  There is one AA provider that posts who I think is spectacular.  Unfortunately, she is into the HEAVY S&M scene, and thats not my deal

such as myself.  Not many of us out there?

I'm very new to the hobby but definitely want to see a gorgeous AA woman such as yourself one day.  I have yet to taste any chocolate :)

However as a newbie, my concern at the moment is seeing ladies with reviews, as I have been taught to do by the many educators on this board of whom I am very thankful for.
