Thanks guys and gals, (and also for those who PM'd or emailed.)

I am now thoroughly educated lol.

I used to drive to DC all the time (and get stuck driving in those damn circles missing my turns over and over and over...)

I'm trying to figure out the best airport if I decided to go to DuPont circle area and didn't want to pay a huge cab fare.

Southwest is having a deal, that ends today

...the district.  Taxi or Uber will cost you 15-30 dollars each way, while a taxi or Uber from Dulles runs close to 100 dollars each way.

   Welcome back!

Hugs,
Kelly

the city.  You can get to & from DCA into the downtown for $ 20-25; last time I talked to someone who'd taken a taxi from Dulles into downtown DC it was over $ 70!  Dulles is about 30 miles from downtown.  Different story if you're staying in say Tysons Corner, then it's closer to even.  And some providers stay & do incall in the Dulles area.  But for downtown or Arlington, definitely Reagan National.  In fact, if you stay in Crystal City in Arlington, all the hotels have a free shuttle to/from National.

I am pretty good at booking flights to airports that are in the wrong area lol. I was about to book BWI until all the hotels said Baltimore. Lol!

It's always nice to get the little details straight with the help of others. :)

Again - southwest is having a sale that ends today if anyone has flights to book. Some are $49 some $99... During a couple date ranges.

....best depends on you where deals are better AND which is closer to where you'll be when you fly out.
If you're not gonna be in any other part of the area outside of Dupont Circle I don't see the point of going all the way out to Dulles/IAD.

And also ask the guy you sit beside on the plane to take you.

And also, aren't you missing a body part (or three) to stay in DuPont Circle? ;)

"Take me! Take me right now!"

I am sure I'll be risking missing multiple body parts, separated and at the bottom of the nearest lake if I ask a stranger to drive me to a hotel lol.

:D

It really depends on where you are staying If you are going to be in DC proper or Crystal City, fly into DCA (Reagan). Cab ride is usually less than $20 depending on where you are staying.

I'm flying into Dulles in Nov only because I have a special multi multi hour date that requested me in an area closer to Dulles.

Steph
