Look for where you set up your email profile

It doesn't matter if you are using a "real" email account, or a webmail account, somewhere along the line, you specified the name that will be attached to your message.  With "real" email you can edit your profile - with MS Outlook, you can go to to TOOLS Email Accounts to edit your name.

With webmail, you have to be more creative.  Just because they ask for your first and last name, which will likely be attached to you emails, that doesn't mean that has to be your real first and last name!

I know this is a naive question, but when e-mailing a lady, I'm worried about the name that shows up on the e-mail as the sender. I started a separate e-mail account strictly for hobbying, but it shows my full real name when I send an e-mail. Is this a problem when I e-mail a lady and she sees my real name? I've never been screened before and have never been asked to give any identifying info. I don't mind giving out identifying info if the lady is established, but was wondering about this in case I see a lady who is not well established. What do you think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

...but many (e.g. Yahoo, Google (GMail), etc.) allow users to alter the name that is attached to their email messages...

Are you aware of this option on your service?

so for many upscale providers it does indeed need to be a real name. If I verify your employment, I need your real name to do so. Same goes for a criminal record search. I understand a need for privacy, but my safety comes first.

But, if the lady wants to check the name on the driver's license, she may walk out if the name on the license doesn't match the name you gave her.  Besides, if the lady is well established, you should have nothing to be concerned about.

Giving your real name is usually the first question on any screening form, anyway
