I do not 'hobby' when I travel, so I have all my fun in Atlanta.  The ladies obviously should charge what they think their time is worth and this is 100% totally up to them.  I know if I was in their shoes and had to have sex with older, out of shape men, I'm not sure I could do it for any amount.  I know I could not have sex with a woman that I was not attracted to.  

Having said that, for me, $300 / hour is the right number.  Maybe $350.  Anything in the $400 or $500 an hour range is only for rare occasions.  Hell, I've had several outstanding doubles sessions with TWO hot girls for $550 - $600 an hour.  Why would I pay $400 - $500 an hour for one?  Now, I've done plenty of the $400 - $500 an hour appointments, but after sampling most of Atlanta's Top 50 ranked ladies over the last few years, there are just too many excellent options at $300 an hour to justify spending more than that on a regular basis.  

For some of us, there is an unbelievable $200 an hour option out there, if you are lucky enough to know about it and pass the screening.  

So, I agree with you, irishjap that $300 / hour is the right number for me.

First, let me be clear - I have no principles.  Er, I mean I have principles, but just not when it comes to pussy.  And the getting of it.  So, the donation per date has nothing to do with principle for me.  Ok, we've got that out of the way.  Good.

But it does have everything to do with a capitalist economy however.  And what the market will bear.  Or bare in this case.    And I am very lucky to live in the provider promised land where many, many amazing ladies will share their skills, talents, affections, and predilections with me for oh say... 300 an hour.  Maybe 350.

So there it is.  As simple as that.  Would I pay more?  Sure, sometimes... based on my interest or fetish at that time.  But to make a lady a sustainable, repeatable regular I look for someone who meets all of my qualifications and is around the current established going rate.  It makes sense. For me anyways.

Has a high donation ever excluded me from seeing someone?  Yes and no...  No in the sense that I could see most any woman I wanted.  Well, assuming I can still make my mortgage that month.  I do need a place to sleep.  That's not my car.    But yes in the fact that I always go into a date hoping to find a new regular.  And a high donation once is totally different than a recurring high donation.  It's just not sustainable.  At least for me.  And I'm all about logic, common sense, and practicality.

Nice thread. I have payed from 200 to 500, but 250 to 300 is the preferred range. Ironically the more expensive were not the best in my opinion which goes against the old adage " You get what you pay for". But I guess this is not a profession that is monitored by BBB so thank goodness for sites like TER. If I get lucky enough to find a gem for 200 then I usually tip well so it still gets in my 250-300 range. Even though I do my homework and read reviews I feel that at the 200 range it is "hit or miss" and I am willing to take that chance.  
  There are a couple great looking ladies in Atlanta that I have wanted to see and early on in my hobby life I would have payed the extra, but now I am reluctant because of personal experiences. I think ladies should charge what they feel is fair and some may charge more to reduce the number of clients. Some of these ladies only see one client a day. I do not and will not try to negotiate but, there are a couple of ladies I always follow their ads just to see if they are running specials. Then hopefully my schedule will match up with their special.

are providers who charge $500 and up. One tours in ATL annually from NYC, and is at $700/hr.

Is it worth it? To me it is. There is that much difference in looks, body, and chemistry from other providers.

There's been a few providers who've been up in that $$00+ range who really don't belong there.

Great topic IJ! Atlanta is an interesting place, you can find reputable ladies who charge $250 an hour, ladies who charge $1000 an hour and everything in between. How a provider chooses her rates is personal and highly variable, since I only know myself well enough to shed light on the topic please note I mean no disrespect to ladies or gents with different approaches. This is simply what works for me.

I don't think my rates (I don't have an hour rate but if I did it would be in the 400-450 range based on my 90 min) are unreasonable for the market, there are many providers who charge the same or more. However I do think my rates, as well as the way I market myself, attract the clients that I want and deter those who I'm not a good fit for. My ideal date is a date, and dates usually involve getting to know someone other than biblically I don't want to see someone who just wants to walk in, get his rocks off, and leave. I have spent a lot of time and effort crafting my website and ads in such a way that enables potential suitors to get a real sense of me and what it's like to spend time with me. Because guess what? I usually enjoy people who enjoy spending time with me, and I feel good knowing I'm making them feel good. I find having my rates where they are means that the men who do come to see me are there because they want to see me in particular.

Another reason I structure my rates the way I do is I usually cannot see more than one client a day. I have found that for me to give 100% to my clients I can't spread myself that thin (especially since the majority of my dates are 2+ hours), quality is much more important to me than quantity. Having my rates where they are enables me to make that happen comfortably.  

So no IJ, I don't feel pressured to lower my rates to be more competitive. Professional companionship is not a competition, there is truly a client for every kind of lady. Every lady has her niche, she can charge whatever she likes and if she taps into that niche properly, will have no problems. Hope everyone finds the experiences they seek in this fair city of ours, it's truly an amazing place!

To answer your question, it really depends upon the person and how bad I want to see her. I have seen ladies in the upper spectrum some in the lower spectrum. I had mixed experience in either case that I can have the similar gfe experience in either donation range.  

My advice is to play within your means or budget. For example, if you are going to see someone in the upper range, and it will hurt your livelihood, then you should wait until you can afford the meeting or see someone within your budget. The goal in the hobby life is to enjoy a meeting without worrying about going into debt or hurt yourself or family in the process. Now, if your budget can sustained the financial hit, then you should do it. I always judge the person who I see by: will it hurt me and my livelihood, if there is going to be a connection by the email or etc, if she can sustained my attention. Great job man on this post.

The part that applies here is the difference between Pure Competition and Monopolistic Competition.  

Pure competition involves an undifferentiated product and the only thing that really matters is cost/price, which are pretty much the same in this market if you count cost of capital.  Picture the sand and gravel business.  On the supply side, ease of entry and lots of undifferentiated suppliers.  Lots of outside folks picture the hobby as being like this, but the TER part of it certainly isn't.  Some of the BP, Asian and central American markets certainly are.  And in the old Yellow Pages days, the markets here certainly were!

Monopolistic Competition involves differentiating your product from others that may (or may not) be inferior.  Branding is very important here.  Is Starbucks really that superior a coffee or have they differentiated by making it an experience.  Is Cadillac really that superior to Buick?  If you do actually have a superior product or can sustain an image of having one, then the market will pay a premium.  If you don't, then sales fall and you are confronted with reducing price to sell enough to sustain revenue.

How does this relate to the TER hobby world and the overall question?  I think that there are so many variables of what guys are looking for and what the girls are offering that there are a whole bunch of micro-markets, rather than some broad aggregate.  Market price becomes relevant pretty much within those markets, rather than overall.  

I think Ava nailed it in her response above.  From her perspective, she can see one guy a day, max.  And she's determined what revenue she needs to make the business make sense for her.  She has clearly defined her "product" - what time with her is going to be like and what her personality is, so there are few unknowns for the potential client.  Then the question becomes simply if there are enough clients for that formula to sustain that rate, and clearly there are for her.

For me, I'm just an old guy with a budget constraint and a horny problem.  I used to date beauty queen types and have seen a number of top five girls, both present and retired.  Physical preferences are for slender builds.  That would be my general starting point in a search.  The girls I have had ongoing relationships with are ones that make a connection with me that most don't.  Fortunately, there are a few that I have that connection with and that over the years have been kind in grandfathering, because of that chemistry.  So for me the market has worked without my having to do lots of testing in the upper echelons of the pricing structure.
