I'll have to see this someday - I don't have cable.

Riley Keough is also Elvis Presley's granddaughter.

What do “The Girlfriend Experience,” the new Starz television show about prostitution, and “The Girlfriend Experience,” the 2009 Steven Soderbergh film about prostitution, have in common?

Steven Soderbergh’s Film Observes a Young Prostitute’s Inner and Outer Life http://nyti.ms/25EGn2e

The 2009 movie was the story of a provider played by Sasha Grey an adult film star towards the end/downslope of her career. " The TV series character, played by Riley Keough of “Magic Mike” and “Mad Max: Fury Road,” is a Chicago law student and legal intern who has not yet begun, when the show opens, to work as a prostitute."

Thought some of you might want to see it. I don't remember the movie. The new series is co-written by a woman and a man and their collaberation took over a year to write and wasn't easy according to Soderbergh.

Sasha should have stuck with porn films. Her attempt to join the main stream did not go over well, to put it mildly. The plot lines were laughable, the so called acting was wooden and uninspired, and it was clear that nobody did much research on what the hobby is really like.

The best example of the hobby on screen will always be Secret Diary of a Call Girl, being as it was based on an actual provider's memoir. Another much better example is the film The Babysitters, starring Katherine Waterson, daughter of the famous Sam Waterson. Not to be confused with The Babysitters Club, as that is meant for a whole different audience.

That being said, I will watch the show. I am intrigued by portrayals of the hobby on screen. While I can not speak to the provider's side of the equation, certainly I can comment on how the show portrays the gentleman's side of things. I am interested to see how accurate it may, or may not, be. Whatever it winds up being, I just like watching the hobby given a treatment that doesn't subscribe to the Oprah Winfrey view of things.
