END OF MESSAGE

I have my first Dupont Circle rendezvous coming up soon at noon on a weekday and will be coming in from VA via I-66.  I don't visit DC often so any advice on the best way to get there at that time?

Any chance of getting a parking spot at the Vienna or Falls Church metros around 10?

Should I consider finding a parking garage near Dupont?

Thanks for the help guys!

1) Park at West Falls Church. I would head straight to large lot just west of the station. Take Orange or Silver line to Farragut West if it's a nice days three or four block walk to DuPont Circle. No fuss, no muss. Just leave yourself plenty of time and check the train schedules. Not sure when they go "non rush- hour" schedule. If it's a crappy day, go to metro center and transfer to red line toward Shady Grove. Longer train ride, but then you're right their.

2) drive in using I-66. You'll encounter slow traffic until you pass Fairfax Drive exit. Cross Roosevelt Bridge. Take E Street express way to 18th Street. Go left on 18th and follow to DuPont Circle. Plenty of garage parking available.

With either option, leave plenty of time.

Disagree with driving downtown.  Have done it before, and make a wrong turn onto DuPont Circle and you're screwed-and not in the good way.  Anything could tie you up for twenty minutes easily, and then you're cutting it close.  If you make the mistake of using a credit card for parking, and your SO is going through bills, why were you downtown?  Just too easy to make a slip-up with those types of things in downtown DC.

If you really want to drive, I would say 66 to 110 (pentagon) 14th street bridge, D street tunnel, park at Union Station and grab redline direct to DuPont circle.  It may seem easier to drive, but mid-day can and most often is a bitch to park and get around.

Park at Vienna.  Get there at 9:50.  The reserved spots open at 10 am.  You might hit traffic if you go to West Falls.

You could park at Ballston mall. It's paid parking though.

.....into the district, when time is of the essence.  When returning to NoVa, either do the same or take Metro all the way.

    Enjoy your date!
