Its more psychological than anything...

There is no real difference between texting and calling as long as it comes from the same phone # that the guy provided initially. If you ask me, its more safe to text/email as you can do it very discreetly. I have booked appointments from work, sitting across from my co-workers by texting from my smartphone.

I would rather prefer someone who accepts texts than someone who really needs me to call her.

I try to be as safe as possible. I take the extra hobby phone safety and anonymization steps. A few weeks back, I booked with a traveling companion. Her screening process was one of the more thorough I've come across. I took the morning off of work, and drove a bit to get to the location. The hobby phone VoIP service I use crapped out. I could log in and text, but I couldn't call. I had been verified, and I could text and email. I just couldn't call. So, she refused to see me. This happened once before a year ago, and I shrugged it off.

Why do some girls require that phone call right before the session? Is there something about it that screening and text doesn't cover?

Yes, there is a reason.  Lets just say it verifies who you say you are and background.

1. She screened you via work and called your phone extension after hours to listen to your greeting and now she wanted to to make sure you have the same voice as that person.
2. A guy in the process of setting up a meeting gets busted by his SO and she, in a fit of misdirected fury, decides to punish the *** who tried to seduce her husband. The wife would have all info except being able to speak on the phone.
3. A guy was busted not by SO but somebody more official. They don't know if the lady knows this client's voice, or there could be some other game going on - they will try to get away with text only.
4. Some people are mentally ill and not safe for a woman to be alone with. They will be able to write a coherent text but perhaps their voice would give them away.
5. Some people are extremely drunk or high, so a short phone call would save the lady the aggravation (and confrontation) of trying to throw them out of her room once she became aware of the problem in person.
6. A 'gut check' is the final step for many ladies who screen. Over 90% of communication is non-verbal -i.e., not what you say but your voice and body language. The voice alone can reveal a lot. She may not know what or why, but she will sense something is off.
7. Unless you are a teenager, the phone is for calling first, text second. I know some gents who are not friendly with the text feature, which can be understandable.... But to have a phone that doesn't make or receive calls just when you need it - it's peculiar to me. I would be suspicious. Maybe it's totally innocent, but we all have various comfort levels when taking chances, and maybe that lady already hit her limit for the day.

If he had not have finally sent an email and said I was busted and my wife snatched my phone, she may call the police on you I would have had no idea it was her and not he sitting in the parking lot of my hotel about to get my room number because we were texting.  I was seconds away from a huge confrontation face-to-face with a spouse because of texting.

Never again.

I would personally never book an appointment via email or text only every again.

I've dealt with verify you by voice as well.....   it is another layer of security....
