didn't you know? The 2nd Amendment doesn't actually exist!

This cold is kicking my ass so bad that I can't sleep, so I figure I might as well comment on this POS

Why should we have background checks in order to exercise our 2nd Amendment rights? Why do we exercise PRIOR RESTRAINT to this one right? Why do we presume GUILT only when it comes to this one right?

Oh, because guns can be fatal. Okay.

Guess what? Free speech can also be fatal. You can shout "fire" in a crowded theater, and people can get trampled to death. If we used the principle of PRIOR RESTRAINT, then everyone who entered a theater would have to be gagged first. If they didn't want to deal with the gag, they'd have to get a background check done before they can go watch the shitty sequel to Independence Day.

But, no, we don't do that. Instead we simply assume that everyone follows the fucking law, and if they don't, we put that asshole in fucking prison. See how that works?

Let's see if there's another right that can be fatally used. The freedom of religion! What hasn't killed more people than religion? From the 30 Years War to 9/11, shit heads practicing religion have always found ways to get people killed. Yet, strangely, priests don't have to get background checks done. Even after they've fucked a million kids, and covered it up. Hmm.

The freedom of assembly! All you have to do to know that the right of assembly can be fucking dangerous is to be, well...a Trump supporter and get chased down by a group of angry illegal immigrants. Now, I've been to many a protest in my day, but NOT ONCE have I ever had to get a background check done before attending.

And my favorite...the right of privacy. You know, the 4th amendment. Well, they didn't call it a right to privacy back then, but that's because to have a right of privy meant the right to use the outhouse. But the right to be secure in your houses, papers, persons and effects from unreasonable search and seizure is the right to privacy. Now the government CAN search your stuff, but we use the principle of PRIOR RESTRAINT here not on the individual, but on the GOVERNMENT. The gov't must go before a judge and present evidence that you've likely committed a crime before they can search your shit.

I know what you're thinking. Willy, how can the right of privacy end up killing someone? Well, what if you used your right of privacy to build explosives or something like that? Yet, strangely, I've never had to get a background check done in order to keep my right of privacy. And when you really think about it, if you DID have to do that, then you wouldn't have any right to privacy at all.

Hmm. Is that why the gun grabbers like background checks so much? Not only have they never heard of the 2nd Amendment, but they've never heard of the 4th Amendment either?

...states tried to abridge Fifteenth Amendment rights.  They were successful for many years until federal legislation and Supreme Courts decisions overturned them.

There's no reason states can't enact legislation limiting the Second Amendment.  Let the NRA & the state govts. test the laws all the way up to the S.Ct.  Why would states enact laws that are blatantly unconstitutional?  Ask the BSC red states that enacted unconstitutional laws interfering with a woman's right to abortion.

Why do you start sentences with "so?"  It sounds 'so' stupid.  Bigguy30 does it all the time.

...the accident has to be classified as a preventable accident, but do you really think it resulted from him having a low IQ? Seems that intelligent people do dumb things causing accidents all the time. Even safety-minded craftsmen occasionally cut off a finger or a toe.

I guess in one sense I agree that mentally disabled people probably should not be allowed to have guns. It also seems sensible that a Gun Ownership class should be mandatory for everyone making a first-purchase gun buy. And not just a two-day target practice thing, but a serious course on safety, legal ramifications if you have to use a weapon to protect yourself, and all the rest of the things that result in household gun accidents or random domestic-violence shootings.

Murder is inexcusable and our murder rate in this country is shameful, but the number of gun-related accidental deaths and injuries are truly absurd.
