You can all say the BS about providers (Gosh I hate that name!) and clients, but today I lost a friend. I had known him for over ten years. He was diagnosed two and half years ago with gallbladder cancer, and I saw him the day before his surgery where they were going to removed everything from his prostate to his bladder.
Then I saw him after his surgery. He was a real great guy, a sweet gentleman, a gentle man, a good man. Last December, he called me crying saying cancer came back. He was a friend, not matter what, he was a friend. He got into a research study with NIH, and he seemed to be doing better. Yesterday, he left me a voice mail to say goodbye.... Today I went to his firm website and saw that he had died this morning. He was a good man who should have deserved to see his grand kids growing up, and tonight I am grieving a friend.
Sorry for your loss Ma'am. As we Irish do poor two pints, drink one and leave the other at the bar in his honor. He is no longer in pain.
of how much we attempt to say that it is just business. You can't help but form friendship and have genuine feelings for the people you get to know and see on a regular basis.
Everytime we lose someone it is a sad day.
