You're the first person I've read that had actual success with a prepaid visa card.  I recall reading others have reported the prepaid debit/gift cards were rejected.

No problems through the online process?  Is there anything different about the ones purchased at the bank as opposed to elsewhere?

I want to become a VIP but don't want to use my credit card, I'll pay by bank check or money order. Is this a good way and how long will it take to activate and use my VIP ?

and I have read that it takes several weeks.

about the speed of getting credit.

Because you will be sending your payment to the Netherlands, and it will be deposited in a bank there, here are some important points to remember:

- You will need an INTERNATIONAL money order or cashiers check.

- The speed of delivery depends how you send it.  If you don't usually send mail overseas, you may want to wait in line at the Post Office to make sure you have adequate international air mail postage, otherwise your letter may be sent to Amsterdam via a slow boat to China.  (BTW, I live in the UK.  When my family sends me mail, it usually arrives in a week to 10 days of the postmark.  I'm sure there are faster options, but probably not worth the extra cost.  JMHO)

- Click on the VIP by Money Order link, http://www.theeroticreview.com/vip/VIPmoneyOrder.asp, and follow the instructions to the letter!  You will be instructed to print out a form that shows your user name, real name, and TER registered email address and put it in the envelope with your payment.  This may not seem to be too discreet, but how else is TER to know who to give the 90 days credit, and know how to contact you if you have a problem?

- If after 15 to 20 days after you send your payment you still haven't been credited with VIP, I'd click on the "Contact Us" link at the top of every TER page, and select "Membership Inquiry".

- Keep your receipts, and ask how you can find out if the MO or cashiers check was cashed.  Any way of knowing by whom?

Good Luck fellow traveler,

And good luck getting a response to your emails.

wow! do most people pay with credit cards? And not worrie about it

They are slow, or the mails slow or something.  I sent lasts years cashiers check about 5 weeks before my VIP membership expired.  Ended up being stuck with regular membership for a couple of weeks until they reinstated VIP.  I think 7 weeks seems to be about right.

I tried to use the mail when they first changed and it took almost 2 months.  I'm sure things are working smoother now.. but it was quite frustrating.

Then they require an international money order.  Sadly, if you go to the Post office, you will find that they do not offer one for the Netherlands.

Eventually they allowed me to go to a MAJOR US bank and send a standard money order from there.

I found that is much easier to just go to the bank and purchase a prepaid visa gift or visa travel card and use it to pay.  It works just like a visa and the transaction is processed almost immediately.
