I Have been lucky enough to spend much time in Paris......what a wonderful place that such a terrible thing has happened in. We can't let these terrorist win! God Bless Paris and kept them in your prayers.

I came across this Facebook post penned by George Takei of Star Trek fame, who was interred in a camp during WWII with his family due to his Japanese heritage. We likewise need remember as the light shines upon those responsible for these heinous acts that most of those who come from the same place and follow the same religion DO NOT believe the way they do. Many are currently leaving their homes to escape the violence and terror these groups are causing.

"I'm writing this backstage at Allegiance, my heart heavy with the news from Paris, aching for the victims and their families and friends.

There no doubt will be those who look upon immigrants and refugees as the enemy as a result of these attacks, because they look like those who perpetrated these attacks, just as peaceful Japanese Americans were viewed as the enemy after Pearl Harbor. But we must resist the urge to categorize and dehumanize, for it is that very impulse that fueled the insanity and violence perpetrated this evening.

Tonight, hold your loved ones, and pray or wish for peace, not only from guns and bombs, but from hatred and fear. If it is our freedom and joy they seek to destroy, give them not that victory. Against the forces of darkness and terror, love and compassion shall always prevail." ‪#‎JeSuisParis‬

It's chilling what the human mind is capable of when corrupted from within (mental illness/isolation/disease) or from without (being brainwashed into a doctrine of hate).  In either case unfortunately there's no talking reason into that kind of corrupted mind.  They're usually too far gone.

Where there is a beautiful forest, that mind wants to see it set ablaze.
Where there is inspirational art, that mind wants to destroy it with a hammer.
Where there is hope, peace, and love, that mind wants to see death, sorrow, and terror.

Rational minds can't conceive of such a thing.  We see it and ask "how can this happen?".  The mind is a powerful instrument for light, love, and promise when it is well.  But it can be a juggernaut of destruction when it is broken.  And there is no how or why.

There's a quote that goes "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain".

All we can do is carry on and enjoy life while we have it.  And tell those close to us how much they mean.  And teach our children compassion and the value of human life.  And for each of us to set an example for others to live by.

It's been many years since I've visited the City of Light but contrary to the stereotype I found the French people helpful, friendly, and generous.  Even as I unintentionally debased their beautiful language in front of them as I attempted to get a working mastery of it.  I wish them peace in this time of grief.

If any people on earth can dance in the rain I have no doubt it is the French.
