It's all about relationship. If you respect and care about the other person, you can both live with your disagreements. And, often you can understand their point of view. I discuss politics and religion with friends and family. That's just part of being fully human with them. I have religious and political beliefs as a person. I do not discuss them to browbeat them into believing what I believe. I've lived through too many times where it was predicted that if so and so got elected our nation would go down the tubes. Well, they got elected and we're still here, and so are my friends and family.

There are some very knowledgeable people on the P&R board, and I've learned and relearned some helpful things from them, but I would never subject myself to the degree of disrespect exercised there.

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam going into downtown Chicago.
Nothing is moving north or south. Suddenly a man knocks on his window..
The driver rolls down his window and asks, 'What happened, what's the hold Up?'

'Terrorists have kidnapped Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Rosie
O'Donnell, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

They are asking for a $10 Million ransom.

Otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them
on fire.

We are going from car to car, taking up a collection.

'The driver asks, 'On average, how much is everyone giving????'

"About a gallon."  ;-)

I don't know what a PC is, other than a personal computer, and I don't know how you define a leftist, but since I believe every human life has great value, I don't fine your joke humorous at all. Seems better suited for the P&R board. I suppose the guy who shot up the church this week would find it funny. Now that I'm thinking of it, that's probably why I don't find it funny.

You mean Republicans think burning women and blacks is funny?  So hilarious I forgot to laugh......

The joke is wildly popular with Republicans "

I'm a Republican but only because I couldn't be a hypocritical Democrat, and I fail to see any humor at all in people contributing gas, to throw on someone.

Men that use aliases are definitely on the sissy side of manhood..

You mean "quadseasonal" is not an alias?!  I bet your parents are so proud they named you that.

and I see no humour in the joke.  Too close to the days of Jim Crow.

I find it hilarious and I don't believe every human life has value at all. A murderer, rapist, pedo, drug dealer, addict and a hunter all have no value IMO and I wouldn't shed a tear for any of them!

I just mentally modified it by replacing those names with Bush, Cheney, Rove, Jeffs, O'Reilly and Limbaugh.

Still though, pretty lame dude. -e

So it was pretty lame as was, but would be made okay "by replacing those names with Bush, Cheney, Rove, Jeffs, O'Reilly and Limbaugh"?  Interesting.

It's quite simple, really. He goes after blacks and women and I hit back with white male middle aged upper class entitlement issued jackasses.

But I'm not using an alias. -e

That's right only white males are sexist and racist
How this for racist statement
The Reverend Jesse Jackson - uses the word "Nigger" when describing BHO
The Reverend Wright - take your pick on what he said
BHO - "Typical white person"
Bill Clinton  - uses woman as sex toys

Oh I forgot that's OK because They're Democrats

The joke has been told a million other times in different forms, and the poster knows it.

has been completely taken over by the far right....It's basically like Townhall.com, Heritage Foundation, Free Republic, etc. or some other far right blogsphere over there now..

I'm a liberal democrat and proud of it. Think I'll go on there and tell them about when I went door to door campaigning for George Mc Govern lol! On second thought maybe not. Those far right dudes might hurt my feelings:)

Maybe Moose will quit whining about how the board is so skewed to the right. Of course even though I am an independent, Moose continues to paint me as a far right winger.

One of two things will happen, either Moose will have someone to keep him company and assuage his "hurt" feelings, or you won't be liberal enough and he'll try to label you as a right winger too. lol

Either way, come on over.Unlike Moose I like hearing other points of view, and maybe we can prove that we can disagree without being disagreeable.

I might at least start reading it and who knows maybe even contribute. I really don't enjoy discussing politics very much.  The discussions  tend to get way to emotional and intense. More like arguments.

I have a lot of respect for you, based on your responses on the GD board, so I am sure we could disagee without being disagreeable.

I've always felt that if everyone would just understand I'm always right about everything the world would be a much better place. That ain't working for me yet so maybe I need a plan B lol!

Just understand that I am actually the one who is always right about everything instead. lol

You are right about discussions turning into to arguments. There are no where near enough "discussions" and way too many arguments. Some people take things waaaay too personally. I guess it's just the nature of discussing politics, and maybe why those of us who do engage in discussing it are banished to the P&R borad. lol

"Unlike Moose I like hearing other points of view"...

My friend since high school (20 years ago) is a Republican living in Chicago whose voting for the Republican candiate this year...My neighbor is definitely hardcore right, listening to all the radio pundits, & yet I always have interesting & respectful disagreements with both of them...There's never any hostility..

The trick is to not take it personally, There are trolls on both sides of the aisle. There is also no moderation and posting under multiple aliases is commonplace. It doesn't make for the politest of boards.

There have been many who have fled the P&R board pledging never to return. Partisans seem to get the worst of it, the true believers, even worse yet. It does seem like the more one adopts one party or the other's  the more personally they take the inevitable bashing that just naturally goes with Religion and Politics. It also seems that the more partisan a person is the more they feel that all the "unjustified" criticism comes from "the other side" whcihever side that happens to be.

This way no one will know how sophomoric you are in real life.

I haven't posted in a while, i know, but I can't believe that you're forgotten me already?

Anyway, it's probably Senator McCain behind that alias.

we all could do more fucking ourselves at P&R Board.  Oh, this isn't P&R....
I know alias because I know a great use of an alias. Beneath this mask I'm wearing a freaking frown and here we don't need shit from coco puff.

I still have no idea what you're talking about! Stick with the Fruit Loops!

this was not only funny but very tasteless!
This crap does not belong on this board!

people who have opinions different from your own, either deserve death, or you wouldn't mind if they were dead, and find humor in the prospect.

You might recall that there was a war some years ago in which thousands died defeating such an idea.

I hope you enjoyed your cheap joke, it appears nobody else did.

Well,

It's meant to be funny because you would think people are donating money to go to the ransom to save Hillary, Barack, etc... but instead, everyone is doing the exact opposite: donating gasoline so that the terrorists can burn them.

This has run its course. In case no one else has noticed, the gutless OP hiding-behind-an-alias wimp hasn't said a word (unless he's using yet another alias ...)since he threw the divide and conquer pebble into the pond.

I must concur with other posters. Why the fuck hasn't been moved into the P&R section already? -e

we are screwed either way what is mr hoover(mc cain) going to do if you listen to him he already shows symptoms of alsheimers, like reagan on his second term , he was able to fake it through his first term. obama will only take care of his personal group like his reverend taught him

I don't understand what you mean by his "personal group"?
Barack's father was black, mother was white, step father asian, just who is (or is not) in his group?  If you could add some Latino, and Native American he would be America!

Who moderates when GND is away? Apparently nobody.

Especially the people who took it waaaaaaaaay too seriously.

BTW, with gas prices being what they are.  I only pitched in a liter.  Also, it was high time that I embraced the metric system.
