What is the general status of LE activity in New York City?  I don't really hear/read about it much.  And when they do take action, are there any patterns--e.g., do they tend to go after providers more than hobbyists (or hobbyists first in order to get at providers), agencies more than independents, etc.?  

I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised at how open this profession is, with websites and all.  I personally consider it a waste of my tax dollars to target this activity--at least where it involves two consenting adults and there are no issues relating to underage girls, abuse, drugs, etc.--but it would seem awfully easy to do so if that were a priority of the current mayor/police chief.  How do the agencies stay in business?
