It can get pretty ridiculous. If you look at some providers faces they look cartoonish as they have been worked so much.
Personally I would rather see the real person. It helps with expectations. Plus no one is perfect. Look at some of the untouched photos of super models vs. what are in print ads. You would not realize it was the same person in some instances.
