Hotels make money on rented rooms, not empty ones. As long as your "date" doesn't parade through the lobby in stripper heels and a thong you will be fine...Come to think of it, in some hotels even THAT would go unnoticed!

Hi I know this is an insane paranoid Q... but I am  booking a hotel room in NYC for a rendevous with a provider. And of course, the first thing that comes to my mind, is Reception noticing "something suspicious," like me being nervous when checking in, and sending the hotel security guards through the door and catching us "in flagrante delicto". So seriously, tell me, ye voices of experience: are there any risks around booking a hotel room, and entertaining a provider therein? Thanks.

you are carrying a bomb vest under your jacket, I would not give this any thought at all.

Sure you may look nervous, but as long as you can communicate, that shouldn't be a problem.

Your question makes me think of the movie "The Graduate"  When Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) was getting a room at the hotel for his date with Mrs Robinson (Ann Bancroft) and the desk clerk asked Ben:  "Are you here for an affair?"  Meaning a party such as a wedding, etc.

Poor Ben nearly jumped out of his skin, but even then the desk clerk was unflappable and Ben and Mrs. Robbinson had their affair.

You'll be fine.

when they ask if you have luggage, say "No, I just have a toothbrush." LOL

While I don't worry about the hotel entity itself because I understand that they are making money, I worry more about the possible moral policeman behind the counter. You know the self-righteous person that knows what's going on and just can't stand idly by while someone "commits an immoral act"! God-forbid. The scary thing is you never know who it is behind that counter and whether they suspect anything, especially if you're using a hotel within the same city as your home address.

Actually both of them were with the same provider.  Once was at a place that she frequented as an incall, and the staff all greeted her by her real first name, because she stayed there frequently.  On another occasion, while we were checking in, we were comparing the pictures on our driver's licenses, and pictures of our kids from respective wallets.  As the hotel clerk walks up, she begins making it VERY CLEAR that the room charges cannot appear on my credit card.  By now I'm thinking that this guy has to be completely comatose to not realize that we're hooking up.  While he may not know about the payment aspect of the relationship, it was clear that it didn't matter to him in the least.

with a suitcase/bag (clean clothes, candles, i-pod, condoms, wine, or whatever else you need), go to your room, call or text the lady to give her your room number, freshin up, wait for the knock at the door, and ENJOY.

I operate on the basic theory that the employees of a hotel are there to do a job and finish a shift - and as long as the numbers balence and no one causes a problem- they could care less what you are doing.  If you are local and feel uncomfortable, make some comment about the water pipe in your house busting.  But I still think that in other people's lives, the rest of us just aren't that interesting.
