Neither Romney or McCain before him were "real" conservatives either, which is what was supposed to make them electable, but both of them made hard right turns to try and pander to the religious right and both of them lost horribly. This has led a lot of social conservatives like Levin and Beck to claim that only a "real" bible thumping conservative can rally the party to victory.  

If Trump fails to learn from the mistakes of Romney or McCain, he is doomed. Actually he might be doomed anyhow, but his only chance is to stick to being Trump, this might cause some social conservatives to stay home in November, but OTOH he will get a LOT of indies and even some disenchanted Dems to come over to his camp and that is his only shot at beating Hillary.

I think Trump is the first GOP candidate in quite a while who will not let the Dems or the media frame his campaign for him. Both Romney and McCain were too weak to make their own case, Trump is a smart man, lets see if he learned from their mistakes.

Trump is brilliantly shrewd, ran the campaign like a ruthless businessman, which is why he won the nomination, but in terms of intellectual gravitas ( which is different from business savy ) fit to be POTUS, he's an idiot. Hell, GAG, you're more fit to be POTUS than Trump is, which is saying something-----------LOL! The way I see the race right NOW, Trump only carries 5 states, 1 less than Goldwater. Is that a bet I want to make upon the outcome of the election ? Hell, no. In politics, things always subject to change. If you say otherwise, you're an idiot.

If you are going to judge a man by the enemies he's made, Trump is looking pretty damn good to me.

Trump was just talking on CNBC about the dangers of a strong dollar, I like the fact that he actually gets the concept that a strong dollar is NOT a good thing for a debtor nation like the US.

Glenn Beck is a Ted Cruz supporter.  If you listened to Beck and took him seriously you'd be broke buying Gold and survival food.  
   I'd take Trump over crazy Cruz, or corrupt, war mongering Hillary, any day.    

If the GOP loses the far right Bible thumpers like they did when six million didn't show up to vote for the Mormon, that's OK, there  will be many millions more voting for the first time to elect President Trump.
  One thing the media isn't figuring in their pro Hillary polls, Trump will energize the silent majority to vote like never before.
