END OF MESSAGE

In searching for something completely unrelated, I came across this post of Gamblers from last June...

One of the things that struck me, besides the fact that Jeb Bush was a surprisingly good speaker, much more in Obama's league and a thousand times better than either his brother or his father. The other thing that struck me was the rock star atmosphere that Jeb had going for him, with some very rabid supporters, very much like the crowds Obama had in '08, and how by contrast Trump's crowd seemed rather muted and unenthusiastic. I guess maybe it's not true that "you get what you pay for" or perhaps fifty bucks doesn't generate a lot of enthusiasm in today's economy. lol

Yes Donald is in it but does he

Have the Trump Card?  He can talk a good story but will not win one primary.

My - how times change!

Are we really looking at a potential Trump vs Hillary campaign for President?

Another question - Is Bill Clinton eligible for the Vice Presidency? Don't you think he'd make for an awesome VP slot on a Trump ticket?

And finally, what was in that brownie I ate right before suggesting Bill as Trumps VP?

They were more like my "first" words on the subject.

When Jeb first announced he did the talk show circuit, he had very enthusiastic supporters, he played up his Latina wife. In short, he rocked it for the first couple of weeks, but that was then, this is now.

and yes, a Trump vs Hilary GE is looking quite likely.

and lastly, quit bogarting that brownie.

i meant in context of "famous last words" not that they were your last comments...

I was just struck by how off the mark we all were about Trumps staying power.

I was giving Trump a real shot well before almost anyone here and for months others here where only discussing "when" he would drop out while I was maintaining that he was here to stay.

My comments that you quote were only referring to their opening announcements and hardly characterize my comments as the race unfolded. I am the last person you should be quoting about getting it wrong where it comes to Trump as I am most likely the very first one here to recognize he wasn't going anywhere until November.

would not be eligible for VP for either candidate because he would get a 3rd term if the president died unexpectedly.  I am sure you already knew that

see you still celebrating happy 420 :)

The law states one can not be ELECTED to the position more than twice. To me that leaves a loophole and I'm hoping one of our local constitutional experts will weigh in.

... do you seriously think Hillary would risk a Republican-led legal challenge to her running mate?  Although that would fit perfectly with the rest of this whacky election cycle, and I don't think much of Hillary, I don't think she's dumb enough to put the Democratic ticket under more legal scrutiny.  Doesn't she already have enough of that?

See the link for a sample of what kind of mess the Democrats could get into if they put forth an Underwood-style ticket, flip-flopped.  The most telling quote is this one I think:

"Of course, this is unlikely to get tested — generally speaking, a candidate wouldn’t want to select a running mate when there’s serious doubt about the running mate’s eligibility, and when there are many other good alternatives as to whom there’s no doubt."

Not sure why you can't access the article--the link works and there's no registration needed that I can detect.

Try Googling "Bill Clinton Vice President" and it should be the first link. If you can't read it, there's several similar articles that discuss this topic.

Very wrong.
